Borrow the Nova 9901 pipe and test again..
Wow Mark, that C-rod did arrive fast! That was just First Class shipping. Cool |
I dont know anyone that has a 9901 pipe..... I heard that they were great though. Only pipes I have at the moment are the RE10, RE11 and a APlus 2081. Will be getting an APlus 0801 soon but cant really forsee investing in a Nova 9901 at the moment....

we tried the 0801 and it weird, like a flat spot in the middle

I spoke to the original owner and he didn't use a break in shim at all on the engine. It runs great though fuel economy is low likely due to the Pavidis pipe and 8mm restrictor. I will try 2060 and 6.5mm restrictor next time out.

I run the SH 2060 and a 6.5, getting just above 10, still running few hours fat so I am sure I can get 12.

http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/...g?t=1306552215 I'm using a Mugen 2042 pipe with a 7mm reducer on my Arrow GTR-21 and getting 9:30 but the engine is still very tight. I expect to get 11-12 once it is fully broken in. I've never teched my Agama tank but I'm told it is undersize (about 121cc), so next week at the Nats I'll add a filter and fuel line and see what it can get. |
It really is a good-looking engine. How would it compare to say an Argus or Alpha S852 or Werks B5 for power and ease of break-in and tuning? I don't care much about run-time.. I just want power and reliability..
The engine just came up for sale here in Germany, for a half-way acceptable price(though still %25 more than an Alpha S852 - €200 vs. €150...) |

The Alphas do have more power and better runtimes. Comparing the S852 to the Arrow though isnt exactly fair to the Arrow. The S852 is a 5 port engine and the Arrow is a 3 Port. Now if you compare Alphas RTR 3 Port to the Arrow they are really close. Both engines are reliable and easy to tune. The Alphas do have alot more mechanical pinch than the Arrow making for a more difficult break in. Though thats nothing a heat gun doesnt fix. Over all.... Pure power output will go to the Alpha... Break in will go to the Arrow for the less amount of pinch Runtimes I have to put to the Alpha Both the Alpha and Arrow tune easily Lifespan is TBD. My F850 and Arrow are at 3 gallons and my A852 is at 1 gallon. |

the arrow has just as much power as a alpha the only thing is its smoother so it doesnt seem like it which is what we call sneaky power and i think it also has as much pinch so it a tough break in with out a heat gun

Is that a special edition head? I thought the motor comes in gun metal grey? I like the red better though
I do like the red but it fades after a while so gun metal should look better in the long run. |
Its a tough break-in with a heat gun. I can't believe how much pinch and compression these motors have I'm at 3 gallon mark on my arrow and its very hard to turn over.

this engine is starting to get my attention. Especially since I already have 2050 and 2060 pipes
