Got my argus .23 and Tb-1 pipe today!!! Was able to run the pipe on my dynamite .24 and noticed a HUGE difference in the low end power, awesome pipe!

I'm in the market for a new .21 engine. I have never run an argus engine, but I ran an alpha lutz edition from a friend and really liked it. I undestand alpha and argus are somewhat similar and since we're able to get an argus r8 50€ cheaper than an alpha ryan lutz world edition (being them so similar as I read) where does the price diference comes from?

breakin in the .23
I was able to idle two tanks on the box today. I had to turn the high speed needle in one turn and the low speed i 1/2 turn out. i also turned the idle gap to about 1mill don't know what they had it set at but it was like a 2 mill gap. I used the included t3 plug for break. i was able to keep the engine running at 230 for my two tanks. fired right up very easy do to rex hand lapping from rwmods big thanks there. i would have been able to do more today but the garage springs broke when the kid wanted there bike so it ended my break in day such a shame had nice 52 degree weather today. will try to get some break in done as soon as i fix this door. my next step will be on the ground with some light throttle for the next 4 or 8 tanks i think then maybe to a open track. will post how the rest of this goes.

Torian is partly right. It also depends on the importer and what he sets his prices at. The Alpha and Argus are made in the same factory and share most parts. Argus on some engines uses their own design crank and of course they look a little different. As far as the R8 there is very little difference, the block is different and the R8 uses the A852 carb. Argus only includes one 8mm reducer so that must be where the cost is cheaper. :)

Rex hooked me up with an Argus D52 and lapped it in for me to hit the opening round of JBRL this past weekend at Thunder Alley Rc in California, I had very limited time for breakin doing so the night before leaving to go to the race. The breakin went butter smooth with no issues, I got a good tune on it and went out and was able to compete with the best southern California had. It was a great day of racing and my new D52 with 0801 pipe was a great combination with plenty of lowend and topend to spare. I am not sure how many have tried this combo but I can tell you this is one of the best smoothest engines I have driven. It was a crazy busy weekend with 213 entries all on a one day race so I had no time to try to get videos of the racing but I will be posting up some videos over the next few weeks of this Argus D52 in my Mugen buggy very soon at Fear Farm RC home of nitro challenge, I cant wait to let this engine stretch its legs out on our big track. Thanks again RW-Mods

Awesome to hear! It is always nice having a good outing with a new engine. Sometimes learning the engine and it being new can cause some hicups.
I know you ran the Dragon in the past, how does this engine compare. I have never ran a Dragon myself and I assume it is a bit smoother than the D52? Rex |

up date on the .23
I made it to the 5th tank got about 650 cc ran though this .23 and tb-1 pipe in my hotbodies d8t. Still on the t3 plug kept the temp very easy in the 230 with my head warmer. I can feel this engine coming alive very nicely. My set up as of now is a m2c light weight flywheel with I think 8 grubs screws in using the hard shoes with 1.0 spring. Pipe is with the 7.5 stinger. Im on 25%vp fuel with 11%oil and some castor added.this is the same set up I used for my lutz engine which was a .21. So far this seem just a little easier on the break in than the lutz was.i also have to say this seem like to engine of choice for me in truggy so far. It seem like it took for every to run one tank at half stick for a rich tune. So far it coming along very good and I cant wait to hit the track with it soon to get some video. Will update some more win I get some more fuel in this my goals is 1000 cc than semi race tune.

update on the .23
I now have 1000 cc in my .23 it starting to come alive. i turned the needles a little bit on the last tank. to lean it out. still got some turning to go but the rest of it will be at the track hit a high temp of 250 with the Jacuzzi on it. it seem to be coming along pretty good. i am also thinking that just maybe the break in shim might ease some of the process up. i am breaking mine in with out it and it seem to be going fine. If you dont heat up the engine to 240 before starting i would suggest the break in shim. im still on the t3 plug and it still looking good no burn plugs and no pitting with my 25% fuel. I do now have my idle gap set to about .5 mm but my hs is still up past the housing and my ls is still in the housing. it still got a very rich tune and a high idle but i will work on that when i get to a open track hopefully very soon.

Great to hear all the good news about the engines! I am down to one .23 left and am placing the next order of engines today. Still have plenty of R8 and D52, getting low on A5's.
Thanks for all your support guys! Rex |
