What do you suggest for fuel? I had added a .10 shim like you used to have to do to all the old novas to compensate for the 30% and it really wasnt running very good. Hopefully just the stock shims will be better.
Thanks!

Default Nova plus 21 4 Team not staying running

I have a plus 21 4C team edition motor that has about 5 gallons on it. It has good compression on it and performance wise is great. However it will not stay idling for more than about 9 to 11 seconds and it will cut off. I have checked for air leaks in the motor, fuel tubing and fuel tank and nothing. In order to keep it running I have to turn my idle up or lean out the bottom end and then it idles high when sitting and idles high when jumping. Should I remove any of the shims and will that help. I run at sea level and pretty high humidity. I also run the novarossi exhaust cooler can that have anything to do with it? The plugs I use are OD 97t plugs. Any help would be appreciated have a points race coming up and want to lock down what the problem is.

i'm thinking about picking up a Nova Plus 21 4C 2010 team ceramic edition for my losi 8 2.0 buggy. I have a few quick questions.

One, what are the different pipes/manifolds I can get for it? I'm looking for a good all around pipe that gets good run times. what will different pipes and manifolds do for the engine?

How does it compare to the p5xlt? From what I've heard it is a little smoother, not as powerful, and better on fuel.

awesome buggy engine. my buddy has one and its really smooth with great transition through the rpm range. it doesnt has a big hit on the bottom end like the P5 my brother has, very drivable engine. this is paired with a Novarossi 9901 and 41021 header, very good combo

I am currently running this engine in and at this stage its virtually the same as the +4 team possibly abit easier , I did get good results with the 97t odonnell plug instead of a 77t or the factory nova plug that it came with, the 9901/20 is good but I am trying out the new 2096 with a 41029 header with hope that fuel economy will improve and power etc etc will be on par with the 9901, will find out very shortly as I have some big meets in oct.
cheers

I love my 4BTT this has to be the best racing engine on the market..

How is this engine for truggy? Will I be better off with the Bonito?

I had a Toro Nero when they first came out and it was really soft on the bottom end, I couldnt clear any of big jumps, and yes it was tuned correct.

i usually do about 8-10 tanks before its 100% raced tuned, i dont believe it 100% breaking in an engine before race tune. 100% broken in is usually 1-2 Gallons, hell on my btt it was 3 gallons, most engines get 8-10 before performance starts to drop, rather then mess with it ill buy a new engine. i have a ninja right now with about 15 gallons on it, never even opened it up and it still has good compression, will idle all day long.

but enough of that, Bonito is 100% raced tuned now, top end is amazing, hard to tell the bottom due to i was on asphalt but it seems good with a weak clutch. if i need to ill go all alum but i think this is going to be a good engine. Ill know more after this weekend
