I'd like to ask again - what is the most powerful 21 for under 200 bucks? (Novarossi or otherwise..) I am finding a Bonito XLBA I think, and a Virtus. Which of those is more powerful?

https://www.wa-rcmodellbau.de/NOVARO...saAkuaEALw_wcB

For Germany that price looks pretty good. Then there is the grey headed Bonito for closer to €200...

I'm not looking for racing. Just messing around, and want as much power as possible. Thanks..

At our club it is mandatory with practise and club racing. Because also a mandatort manifold is chosen I did notice the most fast (onroad!) engines. o not work at full potential but most normal engines do run perfect.

Hey Herrsavage, i'm definitely not the one to be answering your question based on first hand experience, so hopefully someone else will chime in. However, i did just buy the black/grey headed "limited" Bonito, and before i did, i think i researched NovaRossi engines to death on the forums! Seems like the general consensus was that the Bonito was too much power to tame in a buggy, and generally more suited to truggy. That, along with the decent price, is why i ended up with a Bonito (to use in my old MBX-4RR buggy). I've got less than a quart through it so far, but already showing signs that it might be a total menace, which is what i was looking for! I do have a feeling, however, that either of these (Bonito or Virtus) is going to more than scratch the "more power" itch for you.

Again, hopefully someone with more firsthand experience will chime in on this "which engine" inquiry!

Thanks dude. Wish I could still get a Paloma, but yeah, I assume a Bonito should do the trick...

”Too much for a buggy” sounds about right...

more of the rear shock tower and shock, traditional stinger location is actually worse for the tire so far my local club had noise complaints so im trying to make a compromise to be able to run. it does make the exhaust 6db quieter, and the sound doesn't seem to travel as far

Is the Virtus more powerful than a Bonito or Paloma?

I've enjoyed my Bonito so far. I'm 1 gallon in on it, all on the same track (other than initial break in) running the Dynamite 053MR pipe/header in my Tekno NB48 2.0 with stock gearing. Just completed my first race yesterday and it did pretty good. I didn't notice a disadvantage of power compared to all the other nitro buggies out there, and mine is probably on the rich side of things.

Before race day, I decided to experiment with the 7.5mm venturi that's included with the engine. I needed to know what my run time was to get a pit strategy lined up before race day. It went 8:45 without the venturi in. Then I put it in and repeated the test, and surprisingly it went less time, at 8:15. Not sure what the deal is but I didn't change the tune whatsoever during the experiment, and I was driving at a safe pace to ensure I didn't flip over since I was the only person at the track. This is the first time I've ever had a venturi, and I haven't looked into them much, so perhaps that's normal?

your fuel mixture was set for no ventur,i and then you put a venturi in which richens it up since you are asking for less air but never leaned the fuel. You had all the power you needed with no venturi, and pulled the trigger less. But when you put a venturi in, the smaller the venturi the less power output. So you were pulling the trigger more to try and get the power but you were running it a tick richer. Makes sense?

Your reply just helped and made sense to me. I was running a 7mm venturi in my Mantra and switched to a 6mm and ended up leaning out by probably like 4hrs to get back to the same power on the straight this past Saturday.

Yeah I figured there had to be some corresponding tuning warranted to follow the venturi installation.

It's interesting to have the info in mind going into the tuning session -- knowing that without any tuning at all, adding the 7.5mm venturi hurts the run time by roughly 30 seconds, so as I get the tune closer to ideal, it's mileage will first only recover back closer to how it was to begin with, then beyond that point, the mileage will get better than before. No doubt that's a rough figure, since the temps/humidity/traction/etc will all be different whenever I do this compared to the day that I timed my runs a week ago.

if you like a powerhouse engine this is it. Tons of bottom end with a very good top end as well. I still have a Roma as a back up truggy engine and only reason for not running it full time is fuel mileage. It’s not terrible but not what I want

got the mephisto gt5 fully broken in, shes ALOT of motor.IMO nova should throw a rubber bearing in it and sell it as the high end "truck" motor choice alongside the 4 port mephisto(buggy). even with a hipex 2108/50mm header it was pulling some serious rpms while still feeling snappy

A question about back plates.

one of mine on a plus 21-4 Has a broken tab. Part number 13016 - is there a more modern replacement for this or must I use the *exact* one?

also, does anyone know if this oring kit https://www.amainhobbies.com/novaros...nvr11022/p2102

comes with 14002 (crankcase to carb, 15x1.5mm)
