Hey guys, what temp are you finding the Roma .25 is running best around. I have been running around 220. But as this is my first nova, and I keep reading temps around 260 - 280. I have got about 1 gallon through it maybe a little more. I'm in Brisbane Australia, about 74 m above sea level. I use standard no 6 plug with 41021/51020 and 25% fuel.

I am running between 230 and 245 degrees, almost at 2 gallons of byrons 30/11. Getting over 9 minutes a tank in mbx6t with 7.5 venturi, 41029/9853 pipe, turbo #5 plug and buku clutch.

My BTT didn't wake up till the 2 gallon area. I thought I was gonna need to send it off for some work but then it came to life. Also the temps didn't get up to 250ish till then also. It was weird to say the least. But it's running good and strong now.

One of the biggest mistakes racers make with their engines is trying to push them too hard before they are ready  annnnnnnd "blipping" the throttle during break in , its BAAAAAD!

i could be alone on this but i have 2 gallons on my btts and the top end still sucks. so slow. my bottom is crisp, tons of power, and idles great all day:smile::smile:.. but the top makes me wanna stick a .38 in my mouth:flaming::flaming:.. it never gets into the upper rpms.. when i lean it out it goes to 300+ deg and still isnt singing like the other btts's.. but im sure it could bake cookies like no other tho... can anyone help me?

im using the stock shimming .08 mm, c6gtc plug, 6.5 restrictor

Try a 7.5 mm restrictor and re-balance your needles. Sounds like you make be lean on LSN and rich on HSN.

My BTTS screams on top...but it is Clocked:D

Mod vs mod the Roma is smoother with a better on track top end...the Roma has more grunt too...The OS does feel more dynamic, but I think the Roma is the faster of the two

I don't understand. are you billy Easton, or is it his engine or what? oh well. I would say drop the shimming a little bit. I run my plus-4's and p5's at .70 with 25%. what pipe? etc.. are you running. and leaning out the top end only makes an engine faster up unitl a point when it doesnt have enough fuel to burn.

Like above mentioned try the 7.5 restrictor, and put the top and bottom flush and retune. try another pipe, I bet you have the 9901 on it.

there is a billion things that effect these engines......... usually it has nothing to with the needle settings.....

what kinda work do you do to the engine if you dont wanna let every one ya recipe but a quick rundown on what you do to the roma i know every engine is different and requires different amount of work to to get the same results how would the roma go up against a bontio im after a fun basher/ race motor for my truggy.
buggy is my main class of racing just wanna bed able to have some fun on and off the track and am leaning towards the .25 over a .21 for more of fun factor off the track

aussies1129 06-10-2012 04:45 AM

so for a buggy for the btt are most guys running the 7.5 restrictor:confused: wouldnt runtime be crap with that size, I have the 6mm but find it 4stroking up top so will give the 6.5 a try to hopefully get that nice screaming sound:nod:

your making the engine work harder trying to breath thru such a small venturi...we run a 7.5 - 8 mm mm in the BTT... and our runtime is great .......i am not a believer in using tiny venturi's...its malarky IMHO....your just chocking the engine back....making it work harder to breath and usually use more fuel.............

beidle99 06-10-2012 06:01 AM

Use either the 7mm or 7.5mm I didn't notice a huge difference in run time between the two different inserts.

every engine is different....my Roma has sleeve timing adjustments, port angle adjustments, head button adjustments and crank timing adjustments.... Would be a pretty huge difference over stock.....especially so on the top end, tho from what I hear the bottom gains a pile too............
