Good morning all. I had a bad run on my last 2 novarossi engines but I decided to try some more due to price. I recently purchased a Mantra and a Rolling. I am running both in buggy.
I run the 2135/41021 on the Mantra. Great combo with a 6.5 venturi and 25% fuel. I ran the rolling with a 9901/41021. I was very surprised. This was a smooth and good combo in buggy. My question is any other pipe manifolds to try that would have better top end than what I currently have? The top speed is not bad, but not quite what I expected for a 7 port. I am running on a small track so I couldn't really stretch its legs. |
41001, 41031, 41019 or 41032 will all make more top end than the 41021

Currently breaking in Mantra and sometimes hear a little *ping* (not consistent) could piston be hitting button head?
Should I add a shim before going on? |

Clutch bell touching the fly wheel?
Thanks for the suggestion. I guess if it was the piston hitting it would be consistent. |

You called it. Flywheel is tapping clutch bell at times. |

without knowing what engine its really hard to answer that, basically a shorter manifold makes more power as long as your engine has the timing to support it, conicals are the same but to a more extreme degree. longer manifolds choke off the top end slightly shifting powerband lower and creating a wider torque peak. obviously you go too long and you basically make no power but youll make it everywhere. with too short with too little timing it will get on the pipe quick and fall flat right at peak torque not allowing a good rev out or the torque peak will be so narrow and top end focused to even reach peak torque.
my favorite nova header is the 41033 |

id go with the 01 or 33. I ran the 33 with 9901 on my rolling in truck

My first Nova engine, a P5XLT, tossed a wrist pin clip on Saturday while idling on the starter box. This was at about 1.5 gallons. I had never disassembled the engine. My research about wrist pin clips popping out came up short, even shorter when trying to find instances of that happening to Novarossi engines in particular, which lead me to chalk it up as being just a freak shot of bad luck. Outside of that problem, the engine was great and always started quick and didn't give me any issues, so I wanted another Nova.
Tried to buy an Elite 5, but Nova Direct emailed me back saying they were out of stock and offered a Bonito 21XLB Limited with an EFRA 2084 pipe for $189 + shipping, so I took that not knowing much about them, figuring all Nova engines are good. The only other pipe I have is the Dynamite 053MR I've been running so far, which I guess has been fine. It arrived in the mail yesterday, and I was surprised to see that it didn't come with mutiple carb inserts/venturis. Pictures online and the included exploded view sheet (dated 18-09-2019) seem to make it appear like they're supposed to come with 4 different inserts, or at the very least more than just 1 already in the carb. All mine has is the silver machined guy in the carb throat with the knurled lip. Seems like that triangle pocket in the corner of the engine plastic wrap with the big Novarossi logo would be where the carb inserts would be packaged. All mine has in that space is 2 different sized washers. The cooling head color/graphics look different than all the pics of Bonitos I've seen (maybe that's part of what makes it "Limited Edition"?). Am I missing anything? |
any novarossi that says "limited edition" are old stock parts that could have been sitting around for 10+ years. Some could be old stuff they used to OEM for other companies(RB,MAXpower etc) some could be old piston and sleeve sets from the p5 circa 2005 with a crank from an fms 21-7 and the block from a btt. even the GT5 that i posted a bit ago in this thread is the same piston and sleeve set(but un"modified")from the ielasi hummer evo2. Its a good way to get rid of old stock and practically killed the asian engine brands besides OS

Limited edition
What color was the head ? Purple ? Orange ?
