i cant speak for them but i know in my 14 years i have only used breakin fuel once. and it was on the very last motor i broke in. wont do it ever again either. never had any issues in all my years so dont intend to start using it.
one guy used a hudy bench. i did the EXACT method on the the page that comes with the motor, 2 on nitro pro heat cycled for 4 tanks then ran rich for 4 tanks if i remember correctly, last guy who was also on byrons did his own personal breakin.
mine just lost any and all compression and needed a repinch at 3 gallons and by 4 (without getting one) i was chasing the tune all over trying to keep it but it didnt happen.
two had rear bearing failures the others just lost their gusto around the 4 gallon mark. iv never had one go that fast...

Yeah used break in fuel on a Mito 4 and a Roma .25
The Mito went great for about 4 to 5 gallons, but has massive crank pin/rod bushing wear which caused the rod to crack, this happened right about the time it started to not hold a tune. I discovered that right on about 3 laps it would heat soak and then lose all compression.
The Roma went bad after 3 maybe 4 gallons. Same story cant hold a tune and loses power/compression when hot. I would only use break in fuel for an emergency /big event type situation

I ran the Mito 4 in an ST-RR which is one of the heavier trucks out there. With a 9901/41019 and 8mm venturi combo it was more than capable. The 7 with same combo would also do very well. But if you have the 4 already i would give it a go

I honestly expect to see 4 gallons out of a nova
The off road engines get a new air filter at the start of everyday of racin or testin&tunin. I always run the fuel out (byrons) and will add after ruin oil if it will not be used for a week.
When there is a large build up of carbon under the position dome (little end of rod side) and it eats a plug or won't idle she is done.
Scavenge the usable parts and throw the rest away.
On road I would maintain the engine. Replacing the rod and bearings quite frequently.
The off road engines it's a waste of money.
Run it till it blows,lol
