Just how tight do y'all put the flywheel nut?

When u started to feel the resistance, tighten another 1/4, remember to apply a drop of threadlock

The drop of threadlock is always debated in this application, but you can really torque down the flywheel nut. I don't have a torque wrench for this and I don't know the exact number, but I do tighten the crap out of it and I don't have too many issues with slipping flywheels.

Like said the loctite is debatable. I personally do put a tiny drop on. I use I think a 10mm socket and tighten it down till I can't anymore. You can feel when it's completely cranked down. I do put some umph in it

don't use theadlock,if the flywheel comes lose from the collet you will have a hard time geting the nut off just degrease parts and tighten hard

The flywheel should never come loose if the nut is tight. I have never had one come loose and I always do and will use Blue Loctite. A drop goes a long way. Same with screw on end of crank. If you need add heat to get it off.

Drake p5

wondering what the rest of you guys think about the drake p5 engine. Mine has a little over 2 gallons now and I absolutely love it. great power all around and seemed to work well with a number of different pipes and headers.

rotor head33 05-05-2016 08:26 PM

I actually put 9 tanks through my new drake motor today and can tell it's really gonna rip!!! Going to the track tomorrow to finish breakin and start putting a race tune on it!!!!

Just got a used BTT, Front bearing is good now but I would like to have some spares. Does anybody know what size front bearing the btt uses. I saw 7x19 but I figure I better double check here

Ok, quick question to you Nova Gurus, I am wanting a Nova motor for 1/8 buggy, is the P5xlt a good one. I dont need a hardcore race motor as I am just club racing on med size dusty tracks. I would also like to be able to get an easy 8min run time, I am good at tuning, not amaster by any means, but good. Also what manifold and pipe is good budget wise. And about the glow plugs, In Ks. we have between 80-105 degree summers so I should go with the C7 Nova plug right? Also was looking to upgrade my daughters Revo to the Nova 2.5 supercharged combo has anyone played with that motor. She races it in club events too. And C7 for that engine also correct. Or should I have some of the C6 on hand to.

I would get the elite 5 instead. It comes with the team piston unlike the xlt. In fact you could get a tuned version from thenitroshop for the same price as an xlt from a main. Novarossi direct has really good prices on headers and pipes and engines, I would look into the 2096 pipe and 41021 header if you race on a dusty track. I've always used the c6 plug no matter what conditions, it just seems to work the best in a large variety of temperatures. I don't really know much about your revo situation, I would look into a big block conversion or something so you can run .21's

bash bros 05-06-2016 11:11 AM

p5 is a good buggy engine. For low bite tracks the 2096 works good. I'm currently running mine with the Werks 2058 pipe and it's also a nice combo for buggy.

I agree on the Elite 5 too. Compared to the p5 I like it the Elite 5 better. I find it has a wider tuning window, for whatever reason the p5 has always felt a little bit more finicky to get the needles set just right. Probably something to do with the timing and different crank.

SIKE00 05-08-2016 06:11 AM

Thanks, will be checking out the Elite 5
