or is going from small venturri to say an 7 or 8mm give overall more power from bottom right through to top end?

7mm is common, best for overall performance, lower than that will have better torque but top end will suffer (small track), bigger than that for wide open track where u need more top end performance but fuel consumption will be more.

No ideal condition, just use what u need for ur engine performance

smaller venture hurts bottom end, doesn't help it............... what it can do is make the engine more responsive at low speeds, will have less power, but will snap on the trigger faster.......

I believe the Keep-off and some newer models do use the very expensive special size bearing.

Just fyi I have modified a Virtus to make it work with normal 14.5 x 26 bearings:

Nova GT Rally engine

Hello Guys,

Just wondering if GT rally engine is ok for Truggy/Buggy?

Thanks

I don't know if someone from Novarossi will ever read that post. Bu if yes, thank you for your good products. In 2009 I was looking for a new engine. What I have found was an "old" Plus21-4 Buggy first version with std glowplug. It was on sale for half of the original price, because the Plus21-4C was already out. So I bought it.
6 years, three cars and a lot of gallons later I'm still running it and I have still good results on our club races with it. (It’s been the only engine I have used for the whole 6 years!)
After 10 gallons it was repinched and got a new con rod, but rest of the parts are still original. All parts have been checked by an engine specialist before the repinch and all parts has been inside the tolerances. I will have approx. 15 gallons till end of the year and I think I will finally replace the engine than. But I’m still impressed how much runtime you can get out of one of this little machines.
But of course I always take care of a good tuning and I replace my airfilters every hour of runtime.

Ran in the MITO4, it was a tuned version, its ran in like dream, tuned up as it should and as promised has a responsive and smooth powerband.

Notes: Carby needle is very tight and the head bolts were super tight. For some reason, the carby would not shut completely so I unwound the mid a couple of hours and the carby shut.

Other than these minor issues and the fact it's not yet raced, very happy with the investment. I wouldnt normally go for the top engine but was convinced by a friend at the RC shop it was worth it and I think he's right.

Tried the 7mm and 8mm restrictors on my P5xlt and was pretty happy with the 8mm.
I got about 11min runtime with the 7mm and about 10min with the 8mm. The 7mm gave me more power than the 6.5mm and the 8mm even more :).

To be honest though I wished I had even more oomph out of the car but one of the big guy at the club said to me that if I was over 8-10min runtime mark it meant I wasn't pushing the car and that basically my skills weren't worthy of a more powerful engine .

none of us need more powerful engines but its what we all think, so we do it. I have seen guys push a car, only get 7 minutes and be last. I have seen guys push a car and get 10 minutes and be 1st. Run your race, push where you can, pull back when you have to and run your engine where it's best.
weather and tune play a big role on run time.

beidle99,

A friend of mine just asked me today about BCE and I noticed you have "RIP Bill" behind BCE chassis in your signature. Did the owner pass away? Is BCE still around?

A p5xlt should have more than enough oomph for a buggy.

What pipe/manifold combo are you using? Also your clutch setup can make a big difference whether it's springs or the type of material your using.

shannow 08-30-2015 10:09 AM

I have the 41021 + 2096. Was told the 41001 would be better but never was available in europe...

I wasn't happy with the clutch that day.

Usually I run aluminium 3 point shoes with 1.0mm springs but even though the bell is clean, and the shoes, it tends to stick. Especially when flying over a jump the car tends to stay at high rpm even though I let go a bit of the throttle so I end up touching on the brakes to stop this while in air.

The day I tried the restrictors I had put carbon shoes which I prefer as it's smoother without loosing much torque but it engaged too soon (one the starting block it would try to drive the wheels a bit on a ok speed idle and it wasn't the bearings). I just measured and indeed my carbon are heavier than the aluminium ones (1.4gr the aluminium vs 2.1 for the carbon) so as I suspected, for the clutch at least, I'll have a go with 1.1mm spring for the carbon shoes.

Bill passed away suddenly last year in early June. I think the stock was sold off to some stores, but from my understanding there wasn't a lot of stock in the shop. We had some parts (steering top plates, engine mounts, etc) in the works outside of chassis', but they never made it past early prototypes. I had talked to him about a week before he passed and was floored when I got the news.

Pls help with Pipe options,

Hey guys I'm looking for a pipe for my new Rex Legend 7 off-road engine for my Xray XB9 buggy. I know the Novarossi 9901 and 41001 would be good but so expensive, I'm looking something a little more budget wise. We have a medium sized track but some large jumps come up quickly after a turn and wondering what pipe might work best.

Losi RE10 or RE11
Dynamite 086, 053 or 2081
Ofna JP Pipe

Thanks for the help.

053 is a good pipe. I like the Ofna, the manifold it comes with is basically a 41001.
