Can you not get the Nova 6 plugs? I use them for both my engines. I dont want someone to use a different plug and get the head button cross threaded if the plug goes bad.

I used to run them all the time because I felt like the engine ran better with them. But if you're in a hurry, or for example your pit guy discovering a dud plug just before a heat starts, you risk the dreaded gorillatighten deformation..
The taper has the same angle and everything, it's just the tapered area is smaller on the OS plug, so it's pushing on a smaller area of the head button. Hence if you slightly overtighten it, you deform the head button.

So.. if you are 100% sure you will always be super super careful with tightening it.. sure.. but if you think maybe one day you'll be in a hurry or your pit guy will replace a plug.. better run a Nova plug. Hence.. I'll just be running the Nova plugs from now on, even if they cost more and need more frequent replacement.
Thanks for the advice

Hi everyone I'm looking to get a new engine for my truggy and I've been looking at the p5 Clio with a 9901 pipe an from what I've heard it's just like the old p5 but I thought I'd ask if the Clio was ok in a truggy.

Cheers

Ross

the Clio would be a excellent engine to run in a truggy but would be better with the 2096 pipe than the 9901
Imo ..

Hey Monty,

I got a Nova keep Off 4-port which was pre-run from the factory. I've run a little less than a quart through it so far (at 200-215*F) to help seat everything further. The engine has about 5 tanks on it so far. How much more fuel do you think it needs before i can put a slightly rich race tune on it?

Thanks
Tom

Novarossi factory pre run?

Idle 1 tank or 10 min of fuel with the fuel you will be using , after that tune about 75% performance for a few (3-4) tanks on the track then race tune . Ive seen people (pro drivers who are friends) do too much break in after nova pre run and lost compression almost instantly ,ooops , ive explained to them this method and why ,now they are going through wayyy less engines

I though the 2096 was more for top end so I thought it'd be the 9901 for low to mid range torque ?

Cheers

So then I'm assuming Nova pre-run are decently run from the factory, and not just idled through a few tanks. Thats good to know. Thanks a bunch for the heads up.

from my experience the 9901 calm down the p5 and it ran a lot smother I installed the 2096 and it felt like it had more torque at bottom end and mid.i know u said u have the Clio and it's not much different from the p5 .imo it's just like the maxy cinco .

Both will do but i prefer starting with lsn, make sure u who which way to go, torqe or mid-top rpm. get engine to operating temp:

1. Get a proper idle gap, then either richen/leaning lsn to get it sound good
2. Put on track n make wot run, tune for hsn
3. Finalize with lsn as the hsn with effect a bit on lsn
