Hi all! Jumping ship next year from REDS to Nova. First engines i got advised to try were the virtus in truck and +4btt wc in the buggy. Ive got a few ordered, all factory tuned and sealed. Any advice on pipes and header combos? I understand im probably the 100000th person to ask something like this, sorry!
Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated :) |
The Virtus I haven't run so can only guess 2096 or 9901 on the 41021. For the BTT WC I most liked 2096/41001 this fitted in the MBX7 geared 13/44T.

With the virtus, go with the 9853 gives you good bottom end response since the virtus already has a lot of top. 9901 will work well with the 4btt with the 41021 header.

Hey guys, honored to be on this thread what an awesome resource! I need some expert or advanced advice which I know you guys can provide on a good carb needle setting for a great track tune, not necessarily a perfected RACE tune but something pretty close. I run a Novarossi Keep Off 7 with the newer carb (not the offset Virtus one but the newer gen carbs if you will) Im mainly looking for low and high speed needle settings, I can adjust the idol accordingly. Even good settings from a Bonito or other 7 port Novas or maybe even a P5 if same carb would do the trick? Thanks guys and Ill report back once on the track :)

Either the 9901/41021 or the 2096/41021. 2096 has slightly less bottom and more top end.

Running the Plus 4BTTS with 41001/9886. Gobs of bottom end. :)

I've just run in my P5 and given it a safe tune: 7mm Venturi HSN +3 hrs from flush LSN +4 hrs from flush That's running at circa 100/230 degrees with Byron 25-% with the ambient temp 20/70 degrees. |
Even same engine same carb, it always a tolerance. Some other factor is fuel n plug so i guess s long s a trail of smoke n good power will do. Sorry no answer for ur question

I'm not sure you will be provided the answer your looking for - if you re-phrased the question to 'where are you needles after tuning' you'd get a better idea.

Hey guys maybe not the BEST thread for this question? but has anyone experimented with different headers on the Werks 2013 pipe? like nova headers 41021 41001 with this type of combo on a nova engine for example? Or is the Werks one the best to run?

looking to try keep off 4 on my tki3. some are posting here that 2058 pipe works well with this engine. im currently running alpha dragon with ryan lutz pipe which i think is based on 2058. has anyone tried lutz pipe and keep off 4?

Another thing to check is fuel flow. Take the tubing off of the pipe and carb then blow through the tubing from the pipe end. You should get a nice stream of fuel out from the carb line. If you don't its time to look at a new clunk filter. Sounds goofy I know but I've seen this many times.
Had a guy in the shop yesterday that had a nicely idling motor but as soon as we went to drive it lean bog like crazy. I went out to help him tune it up and after going rich over 1 turn on both needles I checked the clunk filter the way mentioned above a it barely dripped. Changed the clunk (coper looking filter in the bottom of the tank) and the engine ran perfect after a lot of leaning out. There is no such thing as a Novarossi dud  we will get it figured out. |
