If you want a mostly mileage setup I would recommend 9901ss/41005 setup . That will be a great setup for that engine that is geared towards mileage .

well i would like to try matching a pipe that I already have to this motor, dyna053, dyna086, jp1-2-3-4. I wish I had more time to test these and know my jp pipes are fuel hogs(jp3 isnt too bad) so I was thinkn the dyna086 would be best
out of your other pipes use the 086hs , great performance ok mileage . 11 min. ? doubt it but not out of the question :) hope this helps, monty |

was just wondering if anyone can help i'm running a toro nero with a od 97t plug and it keeps flaming out and when it doesn't i only get 7 min run time any ideas? P.S it's in a buggy with a 6.5 venturi
I am running the same plug as you in my Toro Nero and have never had any flame out issues.. I am up to about 15 litres (3/4 us galons) I also run the same small venturi and get about exactly 10 minutes run time in a Mugen 6T Truggy Running 25% Meccamo offroad fuel & stock head/ button shimming Dave |
Hey Monty, or anyone else that can help. I'm breaking in a FMS for my 09 XT8 and have been reading on the pipes to use but I need an experienced opinion. I have the 9901ss/41021, SportWerks 053 that the header is shorter than the 41021, 92mm and 2 sharp bends, and then a 086HS pipe set. From reading I hear the FMS is a monster but I'd like to know which pipe/header combo will give me the most mileage and not kill the power. I know the 9901/41021 is probably the best mileage pipe but if I can get more power out of one of the others and only lose 30 seconds or less run time I think I would sacrifice the run time. If it's not that much more power and still going to lose 30 seconds then I wouldn't. Thanks!

Thanks again Monty.

Looking at getting a p5xlt I have a werks 2013 pipe and a jp-2 which of those pipes would work better with the p5. What type of run times should I expect?

I just ran my fms in a 3 day race for the 1st time this weekend. It's a little touchy to tune. Too soft on the bottom with 9886/41021 combo, but mid and top was wicked. My buddy got the same engine and used the 9853/41005 and his has great bottom. I switched to RE10 losi pipe since that's what i had and refused to pay the 70 bucks the local hobby shop wanted for a 053 dyn and mine was way better. I'll be getting a 9853ss when i get back. Great pipe on fms.
9853ss/41005 more balanced from bottom to top , a little better mileage than 41021 9886/41021 soft low with a really hard hitting powerband that never ends, not so good mileage 9886/41020 ok low end great power band in midrange good climb that peaks out up high , mileage decent |
Raced the FMS the last two weekends using the 9886/41021 combo with a
7.5mm venturi. What I noticed is there is a slight hesitation when you first open the throttle, plus the tune is alittle more complex. Leaning the LSN does not get rid of this gurggle. I leaned the HSN and it seemed to help the throttle response and increased mileage. Engine temped around 250 degrees after a 20 minute main with a 10 minute pit. (be careful) The engine ripppps!!! plus the 9886 sounds out of this world (loud!) I tried all three pipe combos with the 41021; 9853, 9901 and the 9886. I did not like the 9853; the 9901 is a great pipe with great throttle response, and I used it for a long time, but the 9886 is my baby now! I'm going to try the 7mm venturi to see if I can get more low-end throttle response hopefully with out losing any top-end. |
That 2013 Works good on everything don't it? Man I have 2 of them and run 1 on an Alpha .24 and talk about Rasp! Love that sound :D

Monty, have you ran the 2084ss on the FMS yet? I might want one.

To me there is a slight lag, but it is at the very very begining of the powerband. I only noticed it from a dead stop. A too lean LSN will cause it
to lose alot of low-end; I found that out this weekend. I'm still testing the pipe. to me the mid low-end on up is way better than 9901. I think I can figure out away to get rid of the lag. I know my mileage is hurting cause I ran out of fuel at about 9 to 10 minutes lucky for me it was right in front of the pit stand, but I was runnig it alittle to rich; the 9901 could do ten minutes with no problem. What clutch spings are you using? The 9853 pipe will not work with the 41021; the low-end will be great, but the mid through top-end just gurggles. |
