I have found that on the older carbs, and most track conditions the 7 is the ticket. If it is a a high traction track and fuel mileage isn't an issue the 7.5 is good

Sorry for being a noob but different venturi sizes are just for more power?

think of it as tuning the cfm displacement on a real carb of sorts

a properly jetted engine is most efficient and powerful at the same time

highly recommend the 8mm during first gallon then 7mm from there on out

Hey guys I went with a p5 at the end of last year. Still have not finished breaking it in yet. How does the p5 compare to the btt's in top end?

not to make waves but i would disagree , the btt engines have much more top end in stock form than the p5xlt

p5xlt will out perform on short tighter tracks , use 2096/41021 or 2096/41005 in buggy on p5xlt and you will experience happiness

jonw 03-09-2013 11:22 AM

So what stock Nova is better on the top end?

You may be right on that one ;)......the last stock P5 I seen run was on a 2058 and it was right in that range of the BTT ..it was actually faster then I expected it to be.....

2013 and 2058 work great on novas given each engine to play with stock for stock you will see the p5xlt is no where near the same on the top end run out as a btt as the btt is no where near the low grunt of the p5xlt

jonw 03-09-2013 12:40 PM

So will you sacrifice low end to gain top end when you go with a Bonito?

No. The bonito is a beast across the whole curve. Even more so when modded!

Yep

what he said. It depends on the track too. I run a plus-4 on a larger track and a p5 on a tight twisty track. The p5 likes the 2096 on a med-large track or low traction, it seems to do better overall if you change the pipe, and a 9853 on short tracks with tight jumps. On the plus-4 or btt etc.. the 9853 makes it snappy even though the btt has a bit more overall power than the plus-4 and should be reeeally fast a bit leaned out like the 2096 seems to want me to do on bigger tracks, but seems to fall short on really technical tracks that are smaller. Usually end up backing it out a little to keep it cooler on a long straitaway so it drops back down going into the corner.
