fyi: you will have a muccchhhhh better time breaking the engine in using 8 mm insert instead of 6.5

Yep. I run the 7 in my btt and very happy with the compromise between power and run time.

Can someone explain how the limiters work? Would a smaller limiter be less power but more runtime and a bigger limiter would be mpre power and less runtime?

No need to change head shims for a while. Keep the stock shims (IIRC total .8) until you start to loose performance. Once that happens swap a .2 shim for a .1 so you have .7 total. I havn't felt any performance drop and my plus 4 and it is almost finished its 5th gallon. Just remember to always preheat before starting and the engine wil last a long time.

If you read my post you would have seen that i said I was unhappy with the pipe and that it was a waiste of money and that I was given some bad advise. Not once did I mention anyone's name nor where I got the advise. There for I have no idea how u think that it was directed at Houston. I have been reading this thread from the beginning and found that Houston's input is usually in no way bias, and have always taken his advise, even though it was never directed at me. I believe that he well and truly knows what he is taking about.

So in conclusion, I think you should pull your head in and mind your own business, think b4 you speak and then take your foot out of your mouth after you have said the wrong thing. I'm sure if Houston thought that it was directed at him, he is big and ugly enough to speak for himself.

In fact, you are the only one here directing that comment at Houston.

The bad advise actually came from someone I was talking to here in Australia if you must know

Questions??

Hi guys i'm new here (and to RC) but i was wondering if anyone could help me identify this engine, all i was told is its a TOP .12.
It came with i square head installed and a spare round one that has "RACE S5" printed on the top. I've done some research and found that TOP is basicly a re-branded Novarossi. Its got a Turbo glow plug, 5 Ports, and SG crank so i was thinking maybe a NS12T5S1?

More pics can be found here:
EDIT wont let me post links yet if you need more pics let me know i have loads.

What i really want to know is what the carb settings are, what fuel to use and which glow plug to buy.

Thanks,
Gav

PS hope the links and photos show and this is the right place to post

Found this on another site for you Wormgrunter

"This is off Nova's website

Carburetor settings for .21 and .28 engines (the .21 and .28 engines share the same carburetor).

The carburetor of our NOVA/REX/TOP Engines are set at the factory with an vacuum measuring tool, before they are put in box, to obtain a setting for an easy start of your engine.

If you are in trouble with your carburetor setting, this is a simple way to get back to the initial factory setting positions.

The High Speed Needle (A) is in charge to adjust the quantity of fuel necessary for the engine when the slide of the carburetor is full opened.
For a correct position, turn the needle-valve (clockwise) until it stops. It’s the fully closed position
(WARNING: do not force it to close it any futher, it will damage the needle!).

The High Speed Needle position is approximately 3,5 turns opened from the fully closed position.

If you want to reposition the fuel nipple we suggest to use the following method:
- Replace the 2 aluminium rings (part number: 11016);
- Re-position the fuel nipple and tighten the needle support with 2,3Nm load;
- Check if the 2 aluminium rings are replaced and there is no leakage.

The Low Speed Needle (B) situated on the throttle is in charge to adjust the fuel flow when the throttle valve is moving with the throttle servo.

The position of the Low Speed Needle must be opened 5 turns from a fully closed position.

The Idle screw (C) of your carburetor is used to adjust the air flow when the throttle is in the closed position (minimum RPM idle speed).

It must be turned to obtain a throttle setting of approximately 0.6 mm open once the throttle valve is closed
(see picture on the right).
Remove the venture if needed.

WARNING:
These settings help you to start your engine and are on the rich side, you still need to adjust your carburetor to get optimal performance.
This can varie on many different things like the fuel you use, the weather, tracks and your driving style. "

Hope that helps
Gav
