get a good tune

It is not so easy to tune , I noticed some of them have to be REALLY lean on lsn and there is about a 1-2hr window

What header is he using?

Whats the difference between the 9901 and the 2096?

The header is the 41021, because this is MBX7 wider chassis. The 2096 pipe works best with 4BTT, because it gives better power delivery and reduced fuel consumption.

monty is correct.. you have to go really lean on the low speed..

That pipe looks like a thin version not the SS version so they put a reinforcement on it. Similar to the 9901 thats thin.

Yep

The thin pipes work very good but not worth the loss in sturdiness imo

I believe the reason for the thin pipe is the weight savings for Roberts buggy ;)

So true

I usually get flat spots on the bottom of thin pipes. I like the ss ones the best too.

I wish they would make the ss pipes with the reinforcement stinger. That is the only place I think the Nova ss pipes are weak.

True

A fat weld around the stinger and or a reinforcement would make the SS pipes last forever.

Need your guys help.

I bought a new assembled DNX408 buggy off flea bay and it has a New never ran Toro Nero in it. I have been reading about the power of this engine and have concerns of keeping it , as its a powerhouse. Not to sound like a wuss here but I would rather have a more conservative engine , It has a 2084 SS nova pipe on it. If I do keep it what pipe would tame this beast... or should I just sell it to a truggy owner and pick up or trade for a Plus 4???

the 2084 will tame that engine right down, you will not have any issues ..........Out of all the pipes I tried on those engines the 2084 reduced the power about the most.......

Which nova engine / pipe combo would give me the longest runtime? Which combo can I make 10 minutes pitstops with comfortably?

Unfortunately it is more like engine, manifold, pipe, clutch set up, drivetrain efficiency, track size, track layout, track surface, and most improtantly drivestyle combo that will yield long runtimes.

The 9901 is supposed to be the long runtime with softer bottom type pipe. I personally like the 2096 and the 9853 pipes. I have all three and it is not always the 9901 that yeilds the longest runtime for every track for me.

Experiment. Because some pipes, you may loose a little runtime, but you may be generally faster around the track.

runtime is mainly to do with the driver and his/her skill tuning the engine...I can make about anything make 10 minutes with careful tuning, even modified 28's...........My advice is match the engine to your driving style first, then start worrying about runtime.....

merdith6 12-15-2012 07:18 AM

runtime

I find that out of the Nova engines I have the runtime is about the same.

The altitude seems to be the biggest factor in mileage. I live near sea level and it requires a richer setting.
