The extra length with the square headers makes a huge difference, square headers actually work great on the low end based pipes ;) Thanks for the clarification paul |
Being that the Bonito is my about favorite engine it means that I also have a massive amount of experience with the engine... It is my general observation that the shorter the manifold you put on the engine, the more powerful it becomes... The longer the manifold you put on the engine the more mellower it becomes.....The short manifolds not only greatly increase the top end, they also increase the bottom end as well as the throttle response.... Want to make a Bonito feel lazy ? then put a long curved manifold on it, that will tone it down big time...want to make a Bonito really bark ? then put a short manifold on it.......its really that simple..... I also find the double 90 degree style headers have better throttle response and crispness on the trigger, which for many is preferred over the mellower feel of the curved manifolds......Now I run on a track with ultra high traction with very short technical jumps, so we usually need as much bottom end as we can find, which means I wouldn't be running a combo if it didn't have strong bottom end as our track will murder you if you don't have a super strong low end...

I have sucked in so much information from this forum, my brain is imploding. LOL Thanks to all, for all of your generous inputs on pipes and manifolds. |

All I can say to people is if you run a stock BTT/plus 4 with a 9901/41021 and are unhappy with he performance ( which many are ) then do yourself a favor swap out to the 41001...it will breath new life into your Plus4/BTT that you likely never knew existed........There now have been several dozen here that have switched on my advice and every single one of them has been extremely pleased with the new found performance of their stock Plus4/BTT......the 41001 noticeably wakes the engine up..............the first time you line up for that triple you always struggled with you will see what I am talking about........And down the straight where the 41021 would normally cap out very early, the 41001 will keep on pulling, giving your car several more MPH then the car with the 41021...

Nice. Thanks Blade and Houston :)
