Hi can anyone help me identify which carb I have on a 4btt which I am breaking in after having a new piston and sleeve installed ( not by me ). I heard that there are a couple of different carbs that it may be. One is harder to tune than another. I am having some problems trying to tune it ( could be me too as I am new to tuning ), but I did notice that the low speed seems to be in excessively compared to another engine I have. It is in at least 1.5mm from flush and still seems rich? I cannot get a good idle and has started stalling a lot. This is after I followed the second break in procedure. I believe I have the idle gap correct as well.

My btt is 2 3/4 out from bottomed on the low speed. The top I'd say is the same as my other carb. That's with a 6 restrictor and 41021 header 2096 pipe. If you run another pipe or bigger restrictor you'll have to turn it out more I'd guess. Maybe start around 3.5 out on the low and where it was on the top with the other carb.
It could also be different from engine to engine, like what Monty experienced so be careful!

Having a hard time keeping my Bonito idling when fliped over/crashed. Yeah I know I'm not suppose to crash but Im not Maifield lol. It doesnt do it everytime but does it too often to where its killing me during races. Installed a new tank and that didnt correct the issue. I'm not the best tuner in the world but I've had it tuned by a few diferent good tuners and still does it. I had another one of my buddies take a look at it last night and he said the tune is fine but to raise the idle cuz Novas like to run with the idle raised a little high. I've heard this about OS engines but never Novas. So I said what the heck due to being frustrated and raised the idle a little higher then I typically like but it did seem to solve the issue. It has probably 3 gals or so on it and the compression is still decent. It just recently started doing this so idk what the deal is. I run the AE 8.2 so the tank doesnt have a clunk but I run an inline filter which I was told a while back that helps when running a non clunk tank. If any one could chime in and offer any advice or suggestions I'd much appreciate it.

If it stalls on idle it is the low speed needle.
If it stalls upside down it could be the high speed needle most likely, but could also be the low speed needle.
Either way what you need to do is run the car about to heat up the engine, then pit and physically turn the car upside down to check for stalling, tune a bit the carb, then flip it again etc.

If the engine stalls on idle or stalls upside down, it's almost always because it is getting too much fuel, it's too rich, so it loads up and stalls.

THe P5 has plenty of low end grunt. Like a said, start with the 2096/21 and go from there. Also run times of the 2096 are very nice.

ive been flaming at the pits after a fuel stop in my last 2 outings. i leaned out the bottom last time and it didnt help. ive read that lengthening the pressure line may help, so i got a gas pressure line cooler and routed it back and underneath the air filter on a losi 8ight 2.0. if that doesn't work, im going to replace the fuel tank.
during my fuel stop last time i made sure to not blip the throttle while the tank is being refueled, and to clear it as much as i can right before he opens the tank.
does anyone have any other suggestions?
