25% nitro, 6,5 mm venturi, 41021, 9901, turbo head and 0,7 mm shims. Has has tried OD77T and Novarossi C5TGC + C6TGC glowplugs.

So he send it to me. Rust on the rear bearing and on the crankshaft

I cleaned up the crank and took all the other parts in one of my own crankcases.

Same result: With a prober tune, it has plenty of power but it sounds too lean. At the end of the straight it comes down to idlespeed as it shall, but after a few seconds at idle it starts to ding ding ding. Doesn't get too hot and it has a smooth and powerfull acceleration when you hit the throttle. No hessitation as it would if the tune was too lean. Changed the carburator and crank with no improvements. Can't see any leaks from backplate, front bearing, carburator, head and glowplug... The engine has been tested in two XRAY cars where any other engine runs perfect.

What can cause this problem?

Thanks gentlemen.

Look at the head button , see if the plug threads in crooked the last thread and a half or so , look on the underside into the combustion bowl and check the plug
seal , if it isnt right you will notice the plug is touching the tapered seal are on one side and will have a gap on the other .

Seen that wreak some havoc on engine tuning
At last I was able to test the engine with a different combustion chamber, as Monty suggested. Guess what?
THAT WAS THE FAULT!
Ran the engine yesterday during free practise and today in a race. Perfect idle, acceleration, top, mileage and powerband.

What a joy to transform a "Monday" engine to a perfect race machine

Thank you Monty

Hey guys if i use a O'donnell 97t plug on my plus 4c, can i still switch to the nova turbo plugs without changing the head button on it?

Your fine with the O'Donnell plugs. Only the OS plugs have a different taper that messes with the button.

Doesn't sell a diamant! Actually I'm going to buy that engine (or what left of it ) for a few beers. Then I've a perfect engine for races for this season... That is until I perhaps shall race a COMPLETE new engine on the market (should be ready in a few month) nearly no one has been driven in the hole wide world... Time will tell

Why is the P5XLT so much cheaper than the rest of the Nova .21's ? Old model or what's wrong with it ? Looking for a truggy motor in the low 200's.
