I never said anything about performance gain....but it does feel like a ceramic rear helps the motor spool up faster, but doubt it makes more measurable power.. I have a lot of attention to detail and I can feel very slight changes in my car so take it for what it's worth....maybe I can measure what your dyno can't with my highly tuned sensory input device....

I have no doubt it feels like is spins smoother.. As for a engine spooling faster under load, not likely....Not unless the bearing being replaced created substantial amounts of drag of course....ceramics are smoother in theory, but since these bearings are being run nearly submersed in lubricant I cannot see any noticeable friction differences between steel and ceramic... if the lubricant is doing its job the balls will be riding on a film of oil anyways.... Well thats my story and I am sticking to it !

I was commenting on Monty's work. No big deal, I just didn't like my compliment being followed by the comments you made. I think any performance gain from ceramics is due to lighter rotating mass, not smoothness or friction...

The main advantage of ceramics is less rotating mass, which means faster spool up and some gain in top end RPM. That is the theory at least. Is it measurable?...idk

They should last longer aswell as the balls wear less then steel. Note i write "should" as ofcourse there are more factors that dictate wear. The balls can't rust either which is a plus aswell.

4Nice discussion about ceramic bearing. Can someone explain why Novarossi can ask 100 dollar for a main ceramic bearing which will last only 5 liter in the onroad while their 50 dollar priced main steel bearing last longer?

It is not only about the balls but the braces also and there seems to be a weak point with Novarossi.

I wish engine manufacturers would use normal standard size bearings, then there was a wide choice in cheaper and I do think much better bearings.

I would go with 7mm personally , thats my base starting point

ya , a 9886/41021 setup makes a lot of rpm :nod:

6mm makes your engine VERY hard to tune , that is the main reason i would switch if i were you :)

Maybe even try a 7.5 on that engine, with a 9886 and try the 41019 or 41001headers..

I've been really impressed with these bent nova headers recently.

+1 on the 41019 header.

Hard to tune with small venturi? Yearh. Last year I tried 6 mm in a Plus4 at 27º Celsius. I nearly just had to touch the LSN, and the tune was changed. Sensitive? Yep. Great fun? ABSOLUTELY!!! :p

those headers dont work quite as well on the 9886 , has what a feels like a lean bog that isnt and cant be tuned out , i have played with lots o combos over and over and over and over and when the 9886 is brand new it works OK but as soon as any buildup starts in the pipe , no bueno
