the bonito is 90% Toro Nero. The toro/bonito has a soft bottom as compared to some engines, however i think that with some clutch and gearing adjustments, you can make up for it. I have a Toro Nero Team that is modded by Mark at PowerHouse RC Performance. He told me the things he changes on the Toro/Bonito make the bottom end a lot stronger without sacrificing its awesome top end.

I run an Ascendancy 4 shoe clutch. I figured with a stock Toro/Bonito i would need stiffer clutch springs along with the alum shoes and go down a tooth on clutchbell or maybe leave it alone @ a 13. With my modded one I'm running 4 .9s with the alum shoes and a 14T clutchbell. I have no complaints about grunt with a modded one, so maybe keep that in mind if you have the cash.

Otherwise as far as stock Novarossi engines go, the P5XLT is a stump puller, and much cheaper than the Bonito, just doesn't quite have the top-end.

What I've found is you really need to buy an engine that suits the tracks you race on. If you run on really big, wide flowing tracks, a stock Bonito will be fine since the low-end grunt isn't as necessary. If you run on shorter, tight tracks, something like the P5XLT will be beneficial.

I love my PowerHouse Toro Nero Team, but the track i race on regularly has no big straightaways and a lot of tight corners, so i cant use the engine to its potential, as i never use full throttle. The only advantage it has over the P5XLT i have is a bit of runtime.

My setups, both engines modded by PowerHouse:

Toro Nero Team
7mm restrictor
Ascendancy clutch, alum flywheel
(4) .9 springs, alum shoes
9901SS/41020 header
~10 min runtimes average

P5XLT
6.5mm restrictor
Werks Pro "Light" clutch
(2) .9s (2) 1.0s, alum shoes
2084SS/41021 header
~9.5 min runtimes average

Thanks, I run on a lot of different tracks being that I live in SoCal. I saw Drake running one in his 8T and it looked really good, but you can't use him as a starting point his engine had a welded back plate. I will be running a STRR EVO.

yea i saw a video from Drake a while back. In that video he said he ran the Toro(now a Bonito) in his truggy with a 7mm restrictor. Tho when the tracks had very little grip, he would go to a 21-4C Team(prolly a BTT now)

Like i said, if you have the cash a PowerHouse modded Bonito will be the ticket, plenty of low-end for the short/tight tracks and more than enough top-end for the big ones

Is it right after the corner or are you on throttle for a moment before it happens . A while ago something similar happened to me . Couldn't figure it out,new tank, lines ,plug ,gaskets. Ended up taking my carb out and flushed it completely with motor spray . Fixed my issue ,must of been a small piece of debris at the nipple or somethin. Worth a try

Hi bro, it was exactly after the corner when i pull the throttle to WOT..

sounds like your carb is a little out of whack

have you had an experienced novarossi tuner look at it for ya ?

if you are coming from OS engines the novarossi carb will throw you a little curveball , you actually have to tune them :D

all kidding aside though , if you are stilll having some issues afetr getting an xperienced novarossi tuner to dial it in there might be a little more to it than the engine ;)

good base starting points for the needles are 4.25 turns from bottomed out on lsn (pull slide barrel out to do this) , 3.5 out from bottomed out on hsn and idle screw open 3/4 turn from just closed (pull insert out push on slide barrel , close idle screw until all airgap is "just" gone then reopen the desired amount)

hope this helps bro

I consider my bonito modded by PowerHouse to be a great all around engine for my truggy plenty of bottom and just screams on top mark for sure knows what he is doing .

Just got my third modded motor from Mark at Powerhouse, this time a Toro Nero. Just awesome power! Absolutely love it in my truggy. Can't wait to get another!!

My Clocked Bonito has massive amounts of power and tosses a Truggy around like a .28......I have run almost every .21 under the sun and have never seen another .21 have the bottom end power of my mod Bonito.....Its just awesome to say the least....... The engine is soo powerful that it cannot be used in a Buggy, even on ultra high traction.....But for a truggy is wicked, even on 100% traction it hauls a truggy like no other .21........ Another neat thing is the engine is ultra easy to tune, and very forgiving to run....

Instead of yacking about how good it is I Will post some videos of it in action... to me nothing is better then a video of the engine in action....
