What brand and style of plug is everyone using? Turbo or Standard? Hot..cold? etc.

heidmann1 11-18-2009 12:40 PM

yes, the dynamite 053 will work pretty good wioth the B5.

I use OS P3 plugs The other day I tried a trinity extech medium and ran it for the rest of the day and that worked perfect too.

I used to run novarossi but I am not into the gallon break in either... Takes way to long and when you race a lot thats the last thing you want to be doing. Also a lot of times because the pinch is so tight and takes so long to get rid of you end up putting lots of stress on the connecting rod and usually have to replace it after break in(usually) becuase of the play, other wise it will beat up your crank pin. So I love the Werks break in, its quick and does not damage the rod. and more time to do other things like drive!! lol..

Plus a lot of engines by the time you break them in, replace the rod and bearings which a lot of engines these days seem to have early bearing problems after break in. You got $280 for the engine another $60 for a rod and another $60 for bearings, Thats $400 bucks Its happened to me and I see it happen a lot. I have run Werks for 5 years now and they are a break in, and run engine that dont have bearing or rod wear problems. break them in and your done!! then drive it for 8 gallons or so... Cant beat that

This is one of the easest motor i have ever broken in for sure. I only have about a 1/2 gallon on it now and running it rich still. There are bi races till next year so i just have fun with it at the track . Plus i like how it never flames out or stalls for what seems like no reason.

pballer2777 11-18-2009 01:41 PM

i read everyone rave about the breakin. where can i find the breakin method?

EJF 11-18-2009 03:09 PM

Probally the easiest engine I have ever broken in as well. I ran 2 tanks through it, letting it run until it was up to temp, shut it off with piston at BDC, and let it cool, and repeat several times. Then tune it.

Mark Nasty runs the OD 97T Turbo plug with this motor and it runs great.

Well the crank broke on mine after 3 gallons, does anyone need a B5 for parts?

Adim_X 11-19-2009 05:47 PM

How did the crank break? Could you provide a little history? I would pm Werks, or email [email protected]

Werks 11-19-2009 06:55 PM

He has already contacted me. Yesterday he PM'ed me that he thought the crank was bent because he kept on loosing clutch bearings. Yesterday afternoon I sent him a pm back saying that if the crank is bent it's probably due to chassis flex (clutch bell contacting the chassis) because they are made on CNC lathes but in any case please take the crank out of the engine and roll it on a flat surface i.e. glass to see if it is bent and let me know. This morning I got a response just saying "Can I get a replacement? I can mail this one to you or send some pics if you want" nothing about ever taking it out or inspecting it like I asked.

I've not been on the site all day (cause for some reason I have not been able too, anyone else notice this also?) so I did not respond but now based on his post it seems that the bent crank from yesterday has turned into a broke crank today lol. In any case I sent him a PM back again asking that he take the crank out and inspect it and let me know. We warranty all of our engines against manufacturer related defects and if it is one the crank will be replaced under warranty. However to make that determination I need some basic information like my original question answered lol!

So ldawg please take a second and provide me with the information that I originally asked in my first PM. You can either PM it to me or just post it on here like you did when you asked anyone if they needed a B5 for parts cause your crank broke lol. Either way public or private you are still a customer of one of my products and I treat everyone equally no matter how they decide to deal with things, just please give me the information that I requested so that I can make a determination on how this should be handled.

Regards,

Ron

No, Actually I replied yesterday with "I can't tell if the crank's bent by looking at it".

Some threads are broken off the crank like I said in my first PM, how does that not constitute as broken?

wow, oh well...

hdcruzer 11-19-2009 07:15 PM

Hey Guys, I just got done putting in my B5. Any of you guys run the thunder tiger 2035 for a pipe. Thats what i put on mine as I have heard it was a good pipe for this motor. Ill be fireing it up Sat. Is there an easier way to break it in than Rons way. I mean is there a needle setting that you can start at and work from there, or is Rons way easier that what it reads. Thanks and I cant wait till Sat......
