So, last year I ran a b5 and loved the heck out of it, but this year I'm thinking of going with a b6 purely for fuel economy. My only concern is that I'm going to get a b6 and not be happy with the bottom end on it compared to the b5. I'm running a 2057 pipe and currently run with it in the short configuration to soften the bottom a little, and that was perfect for the tight technical sections that need a non-fat blippable strong bottom end. I am going to be starting the season off with my old "classic" d8, which is a heavier buggy, so I'm really concerned that going with the b6 on a tight technical track may be a bad decision.

Can anyone offer any direction on this?

I run a mbx6 on a semi tight track and i ran my b5/2035 in it last weekend and the strong bottom end did not hurt at all..although im an agressive drifter type driver so i like alot of bottom end grunt, i dont feel it would be to much for any one! i will be running a werks b5 in buggy ands buggy just with a 2013 in truggy and 2057/58 in buggy..

In my personal experience a smoother motor is often the key to more consistent lap times. I don't run on a tight technical track but every B6 I've seen run on my hometrack does not look like it's lacking to me, probably really comes down to personal preference. If your choking down a b5 to get rid of some power, personally I would give the B6 a chance and you could always go to a 2058 pipeset if you need a little more. My buddy ran a B5 with a 2057 at a small track for the last race of the season last year and it was way to much, I think he would have been faster with a smoother motor. My 2 cents

I would have to agree with "Q" on this one. My son and I race all over Texas and likes the feel of his B6 in his buggy. We ran a club race a couple of weekends ago and Cade turned some of his fastest laps of the day in the first heat with a slightly rich top end on his B6 haha. I knew is was rich but I wanted to prove a point to him about the "slow is fast" theory. He didn't think he could be that quick with motor that was running on the rich side. Then we left it out there and leaned the top and ran like a top.

The B6 is a very good motor, we may pick up a 2058 for it and try it for a tuning option. Great product along with great support.

Where can i buy WERKS engines in europe?

Hello i was wondering where i can buy WERKS engines in Spain or other countries in Europe.
The new TAX system here in Spain makes it very expensive to buy things from countries outside the E.U , and it takes forever to recive packages. It is sad, because for instance A Main do have nice prices even with the shipping expences, and here in Spain it is very expensive and only in a few stores you can shop online with Visacard.

So if anyone knows the country in Europe with the best prices in general, and also some examples of good stores to buy from, i would be happy for the help.

Question: I know it is difficult to compare engines fuelmilage because of different drivingstyles, but could somebody that have been driving both the O.S 21 VZB V-spec and the WERKS B 5 and or B 6 tell me if you can gain a lot of time if you change engine? And also if you can tell me if one is noticable faster than the other?

Now when I get to that credit card gap in the carb. Do I measure it with the restrictor in or out?

Measure with it out.

Mo Denton back on page 429 said to measure the .7mm gap with the venturi in.

Which one is it? Can we get a confirmation from Ron?

When you measure your idle gap for the .7mm, do you measure this with the venturi in or venturi out?

underway 02-15-2011 02:55 PM

Doesnt matter because the venturi doesnt go all the way down to the slide. I take it out just because its easier to measure.

Quad Racer 34 02-15-2011 03:12 PM

It's easier when the venturi is out. Ron, a while back, mentioned whenever he has the carb off in the beginning, sets the idle gap from the bottom of the carb. Just another way to do it but you don't need to take the carb off to do it..
