Im running a Werks B5 with 2013 pipe, alum clutch and 13t CB. My motor has about 16 tanks on it and has easy to break in and tune afterwards. Ive been reading about people getting around 10min a tank with this motor, I am getting 7:30 barely!! Another thing, temp is 235-240, is that ok? Is that its operating temp? It has very good power and smokes great, I run on a track with 2 veeery long straights the motor seems to top out a little too soon so I may try a 14t CB, I think I could lean it a tad but I like it in the safe zone as I have it now.
Any advice?
Thanks

you have one of your needles off, or probably backwards... barely getting 730 and running 235ish ( i am assuming with a good temp gun) needles I am guessing are off

Hey Mo you been busy we haven't seen you around... we still waiting on that video. My boy has a brand new engine he wants to break in himself by looking at your video. Post it up soon.

Like Mo said I think your needles are way off. Start fresh with HSN and LSN flush and idle gap .5mm and tune from there. Sounds like you are super lean on top and horribly rich on bottom. Be careful with the B5 because it makes so much power you feel that the bottom is perfect when it is still very fat.

As a few of the others guys said your needles may be off. 235 is a good temp but only 730 min run time is way low. I was only getting that when mine was new on breakin. On a rich tune on a large track I am getting 10min no prob. one thing I have found with my B5 it is very touchy when it comes to drag in the drivetrain. If your clutch is off a little or even a bad hub brearing will drive the temps up on the b5 even when running rich.

Check everything over in the truggy, check all fuel lines for leaks. After that I would set the idle gap to .5mm and retune with both needles from flush.

whats the formula or target for setting the low speed needle and should you set the idle gap from the start???

You set the Idle gap before anything, get the LSN flush with the housing and you are set for brake in or start tuning. If you read the very first post will explain how set up this engines..

Looks like werks beat nova :> Its funny that Jermy was the only one running werks and I believe there were 3 or 4 nova's in the top 16 lineup and werks stayed up above.

yet ANOTHER good reason to race with a WERKS....................good job, jeremy....

blktransam 11-14-2010 04:01 PM

THANK YOU

Had a small problem with my new B5, called Ron and in two days my problem was fixed. 14 tanks and not even a burp. Your break in method is the BEST.Over ten years in the hobby and this motos was the easiest to break in. THANK YOU.

At this level of racing anything could cause one person to win over the other. We made a mistke on tire choice which I think cost us the chance of a better finish. Others had car problems, engine problems or what not. But remember that here you do not directly qualify into the finals, you have to race your way into it. So what I would come away with from looking at the results is that any of the engines listed as being present in the finals is that each and every one of them had the performance and capability of potentialy winning the race!

On a side note at the airport now and flying back to the US. Will be back in the office on Tuesday and will respond to all of the pm's etc then. Thanks again to all that support us and I hope that these results helps confirm the capabilities of our products!

Best Regards,

Ron

werks

WERKS world class engine, world class support, congrats to Kortz and Ron from Werks i have a new b5 coming.

Mo Denton 11-15-2010 09:33 AM

I think what is equally important is the fact that it was Ron and Jeremy there.... not a factoy team of 20 guys or an enormous team of any kind.
they ran a not so popular car and an over the counter Werks engine and ended up 2 laps down after a 60 minute main!!!! I think its just awesome the result!!! and it says a TON for the engine!!!! (because I drove the car):D
great job guys once again!!

Fd2k 11-15-2010 10:09 AM

I wanna give my congrats to Werks racing for a great race out there. It shows how much competition werks engine give out there to the others. Keep up the great job Ron and Kortz.

Hey Mo when are you going to post up the Break in video you made? Im looking forward on having it. Not too many people shows video on how to break into there engine. Werks break in video will mean alot to us.
