If I have the composite carb what inserts do I buy? I bought wrxtl21160012 from amain and it's to big. I guess I need the 2010 inserts? I bought the engine used. Thanks

Anyone have pick of their throttle linkage set up. It would be a huge help. I want to make sure I am positioning the ball link that attaches to the slide right.

My carb is set straight and the height of the linkage is on par but want to make sure if nothing a maybe a better way to position the linkage.

Thanks

There really isn't a "better way". The best way is to ensure your servo is pulling the carb slide straight.

Will any other carbs work with the older B5?

Sirio and Orion carbs will both fit..

Great blow-by-blow Ron. Congrats on Kortz's finish, and under those circumstances, it's quite amazing! Although my B5 is modded, I love that mill!! Great quality, excellent power and delivery, and phenomenal runtimes. Keep doing what you're doing:tire::D:tire:

I was wondering on inserts/restrictors as well. The engine came with a 7mm, i bought a 6.5mm to play around with. Im sure i can expect a little less power and maybe better run time? Also had a brain fart towards a smaller restrictor running a little better in the up coming cooler weather, as well as maybe going up a size when it warms up. Im sure these are viable tuning options?

Was also wondering how much difference there is in the 2013 and the 2057 w/extender? Running the 2057 now. Anyone have experience with both?

Smaller restrictors limit the maximum air velocity basically they flow freely up until the point where the engine is trying to suck more air than can pass through the smaller hole. So in a nutshell the only place that they become a factor is that they limit top end. With less max air flow you are obviously going to tune with less max fuel flow so leaner on the HS needle which will result in a bit of an increase in run time. Smaller restrictors in cold weather and large restricotrs in hot is more of a personal tuning preference. A large restrictor in cold weather will work just fine as will a small one, in hot weather I guess if it is 110+ degrees you might want to look into running a larger reducer because of air density but this is not really something that I have experienced. Where reducer size is a factor is when you start dealing with high elevations, there again air density becomes a factor so you tend to start running larger reducers.

As far as the pipe question the 2013 will still have more bottom end than the 2057 with extender. Personally I think that the set up is 2013 for small tracks, 2057 without extender for large tracks and our new 2058 (WRX6659) as an all around pipe that works everywhere!

Regards,

Ron

Thanks, it all makes sense, i think i was just looking for some kind of confirmation.

Obviously the smaller restrictor could only possibly limit air flow in the upper rpm. i may use the smaller one if i ever run into fuel economy issues or anything. So far so good though. My engine is just past 3/4 on its first gallon and seems like it has just woken up. Ran my first timed tank today, just at home in the yard/road with a mix of low/mid and a few speed runs up the street. Got about 13:30 out of that tank only stopping a couple times to check temps. Seems like that 2057 can get some good run times. Fairly new to nitro and the B5 has made it pretty easy so far.

We have two tracks around here for nitro, one setup long right now, probly run that 2057 without the spacer, seems like it screams a lot more on the top.

The other track is pretty short and technical. I guess i can start looking at picking up the 2013 if i need the bottom end out there. Is the new 2058 is going to be a good midrange pipe then? Or is it more top than the 2057? I started 2057 because it seemed like a good idea to be able to adjust the pipe for track conditions.

Glad that your experience with nitro and the b5 has been pretty painless so far! The B5 is an easy engine to tune and combined with our break in system I think makes for a no brainer kind of approach to things. As far as pipes are concerned I look at them as tuning aids just like the reducers that we talked about previously. For short tracks you might want to look at the 2013 that you mentioned or possibly our new 2058 which kinda gives you the best of both worlds lol!

Thank you but I only make products and a whole lot of what we make is based on input from people like you. So thank you all and again a happy thanksgiving!
