My turn for a "my b5 rocks" story!
I followed the break in guide on page 3, stalled a couple of times while I was getting the (seemly) huge idle gap sorted out for break in. Had it heated up and idling in no time... Idled the full tank like a train (Had oil all over my shirt so thats a good sign it's rich enough ;) ) Did the rest of the boring breakin (I hate breaking in engines...) with no flame outs for the rest of the 7ish tanks. Slowly leaning it off. Had to wait 2 weeks till our next prac session, but I got it purring along with a good - but not 100% tune... Had plenty of good sparring sessions with my mates OS Speed (My 808 Vs Hyper 9)... I wouldn't say this engine is faster, but neither of us had a definite advantage anywhere in the Rev range. Ran the same plug since breakin... no problems all day :D Running : Ascendancy 4 Shoe Clutch 1.0 Springs XRAY 16T Clutch Bell TTR 2035 Pipe OD 97T Plug Ran for 10m 22sec on a full tank with this setup... (Only timed once however) Not quite enough for me to pit at 10 - which pipe would get me some extra seconds? (Im not brave enough to risk running out of fuel :D ) The WERKS 2057 without the extender or the sirio 2056 will give the best mileage on the B5. Those pipes should give you at least 45 seconds more runtime. And possible Over a minute more depending on your track and how you drive. That will give the room to make the 10 minute pits. Got to love it! $199 B5 against a $500 Speed simlar performance! |
Werks, you have a PM.

I just hit the half gal mark on my first B5 today at our little track that we have and I had guys offering me $50 more then what I payed for the engine new they where that impressed as was I.
This has got to be the best engine that I have bought yet, break in was so very easy, holds a tune all day, and is to me for an engine of this quality dirt cheap. I can't thank Ron and all the people involved with the RD of it enough for what is going to be my engine of choice until Werks has something new out. I'm just really glad I bought 2 right from the start and didn't hesitate. I will say this the only thing that I wish it had out of the box was some STICKERS so I could plaster them all over and let people know what just passed them LOL |
So , afther two day's of breaking in our b5, its still running the first Os p3 plug and the engine runs great. He has 2 liters of fuel now, and with a runtime of almost 11 minutes we are very pleased. Engine never died and is even so fast as the big ones like the Ninja en Os speed. Great engine for a super price. 11 april we start with the Dutch championships and there are some of the B5 at the start, looks good for Werks.

Man, I should print up some t-shirts with a slogan along the lines of "It's nearly 11pm on a Sunday evening, where's the owner of that other engine company that your using at???" Lol, I sent you one back, please give it a shot and let me know what happens.
Regards, Ron BTW, Werks support is SECOND TO NONE!!!!! |
i was whitness to a death of a works b5 on saturday, it poped a plug and the coil fell inside, and we tried getting him re fired before we new what went wrong, it would not refire after a plug change... he learned the the coil fell inside after an imspection of getting off the track and back to his pit table he said he started to look through the gp hole and saw parts of the coil and said "i cant look anymore'' and walked away!
but he still pulled a 3rd place podium in the points series! and Steve W, pulled off a second with his werks b5! in inter truggy! congrats delta crew! we will see you guys at NOR-CAL! |
Can I break this Engine in with 20% then run 30% to race with? The reason is I have a fresh Gallon of 20% and I would hate to waste it. I figured if I run a P4 the low nitro won't be a problem am I right?
|
I would break in the motor with the same fuel you plan to run. I hate to waste also, but I would keep it as simple as possible.

Dpowers, Replace the fuel line inside the tank with losi fuel line, the stock line will get cracks in it very quickly so when your fuel level get about half way(where the fuel clunk line is now in the air) it will lean out and flame out. The losi line is much thicker and lasts a long time in the fuel tank and will not crack. Second, shorten the fuel line on the clunk about a 3/8 of an inch. Stock it is long enough to get stuck up underneath the fuel tank lid and the filter will be above the fuel level and it will die. third the fuel tank o-rings do sometimes leak, The springs that hold down the lid are a little one the weak side, Cut some medium sized white zip tie peices and super glue them under the springs(one on each side) it gives it a little more tension to put pressure and keep the cap pressed down tight. And its hardly noiticable and looks nice. Hope this helps:) |
