Default Different versions of evo3...

On the sirio site are different engines mentioned:
- S12 T5 (5 port)
- S12 T3 I (3 port Ifmar)
- S12 T3 E (3 port efra)
Are these the Evo 3 engines?
But what are the others (older engines? or also evo 3?)
- S12 T3 AF ?
- S12 T5 AF ?
- S12 TSP , TUP , TRR E , TRR I

Does anybody know if the EVO 2 and EVO 3 have the same cranks?

They have different cranks. The EVO 3 is larger.

Mate this is why I am asking my above question. Here is my story of how good Sirio customer service is.

At an Australian event 7-8 months ago HEAPS of Sirio WCR engines died from broken cranks. It was obvious that the WCR cranks had a serious defect. The Australian distributor "Hobby Discounter" did the correct thing and asked people to send the cranks back for replacement. This was 6 months ago at least.

Since then he has evaded all attempts to return the cranks or the motors. I have heard so many stories from both Sirio and the Oz distributor that I will not even bother to repeat them, but basically I know of at least 6 people who returned cranks only to be left with an incredibly expensive motor that cannot be used. The head of Sirio knows of this, I have emailed him MANY times. He has offered me a swap to an Evo 3 motor which is good but insists that the Oz distributor needs to provide me the motor. The Oz distributor has subsequently evaded all attempts to send me one with again a multitude of excuses. Apparently he is "doing me a favour" by fixing a manufacturing defect on this motor even thought I purchases the motor at my LHS.

I finally relented and bought myself another Evo 2 crank to fix my motor. It cost me US$90 on top of the cost of my WCR motor. Not impressed.

So in summary DO NOT BUY SIRIO MOTORS. This is a case where a company could have stepped up and easily fixed an issue, but chose not to. Now I dont know who is to blame, Sirio themselves or the Oz distributor, but frankly thats not my problem. They both know about the issue and have taken over 6 months to resolve the issue, and STILL nothing has been done about it.

I can back all of this up with a trail of emails if anybody care. Do yourself a favour and purchase a motor from a company that will fix defects.

Here is how it IS DONE. I bought a STS D3R motor. The rear bearing felt really gritty after around 4 litres of fuel so I emailed STS. They sent me a front and rear bearing and a NEW CRANK free of charge within a week. Now thats outstanding customer service.

Does anybody know which is the best .12 Sirio engine out there? I race 1/10 touring cars and i am looking for a Sirio engine. I currently have the S12 TUP 5 port Trinity Sirio and it is a screamer. I am very happy with it. I am now in the market for 2 new Trinity Sirio engines. One EFRA legal and one Outlaw for fun. I might even buy another S12 TUP 5 port. Not sure yet. Where can I buy online and where can I find info on these engines. Especially EFRA legal ones?? Thanks...

Latest update on the Sirio debacle. After 7 months of inaction from Sirio italy and the distributor in Australia, and after being promised a new motor 1 month ago by Sirio italy they have stopped replying to me completely. All I can say is DO NOT expect customer service from this Company, buy these motors at your own risk. They may well be fine for you, but pray it does not break or have a manufacturing defect.

There are so many other fine motor companies out there I do not know why you would part with your money to this company.

To prove that I am not a liar here is the email from Andrea from Sirio:

I know that the EVO 3 carb is the same as the EVO 2 but I remember the first sirio being different(no mid range). You can go to the www.star-motor.com site and find the needle settings under the engine tuning/break in section.

The HSN. Try 1 full turn. If thats not enough lean it 2 hours until it gets fast. Once the motor is powerful enough, richen it till you notice a performance drop then lean it back a little bit for power. Always err on the rich side to take care of your motor though.

Also don't pay too much attention to the temp, the Sirios run HOT, especially the EVO 3. I always ran it around 260 for optimal power. What pipe are you using?
