Thanks for all the info AFM. Greatly appreciated.

I have a couple of questions:

1. On Sirio's web site, it tells you that leaning the top and richen the bottom could damage your engine. Now I understand why not to lean the top too much but why would a rich bottom be bad for your engine? I have been running the bottom as rich as I can as long as I can make the run time just so that I have the bottom end pickup coming out of the corner. So how do I know it's too rich in the bottom?

2. WCR or wait for the Evo3?

Thanks again.

jeffrey......

rich bottom isn't the problem.......the problem is running the MAIN needle too lean, because this needle controls how much fuel get in the carburettor.....

to check the bottom setting, accelerate your engine very slowly up to full throttle and let the engine run at full rpm for 2 seconds, then idle.....if in the next 15~20 seconds the idle stays consistent, it's ok......if the rpm raises, the bottom is lean, if the rpm goes down, then it's rich.....

That's what I thought. But what are the down side of running a rich bottom other than bad fuel economy? stalling? I seem to have more problem stalling when the bottom is lean rather than rich. Is there any other reason a rich bottom might be bad?

Really? When I richen the bottom I seem to get more bottom end power.

No problem Jeffry

1.- Yes if done simultaneously, because the main needle controls the total fuel that goes into the engine, so if you lean to much the incoming fuel, no matter how much you open the LSN your engine will suffer from over leaning. (read my explanation a couple of posts back about mid range needle).
Also keep in mind that once the HSN is properly set, the most critical adjustment is the LSN, because the engine relies on this adjustment for its temperature control when idling on the infield of the track. This is the zone in which the engine does 90% of its work.
If the top speed of your engine is good and the engine runs hot, you should generally richen the LSN. That is how you determine how rich to run your LSN........plus the run time, the 30 second idling, etc.etc.

2.- My sources tell me that the new T3 or Evo3 (not defined yet) has much more bottom power and the same top end as the Evo2 , WCR platform....which was the weak link in those engines, compared to the Nova based engines.

Latest Info on Sirio .12 EVO 3

"Let me say this latest evolution of our .12 engine is more powerful and reliable than before, in fact even better than the WCR Limited Edition. This is a much better engine than the WCR edition with not just a few updated parts but with all new components like the case, new big size crankshaft, new front and rear ball bearings, new con rod, new light weight piston and sleeve, new piston pin and new shape underhead. The engine is much higher performing than any previous edition.”

If you go to Sirio's web page http://www.star-motor.com/ you'll find under touring the latest engines, and pipes under accesories.

New engines are:

T3 E (EFRA)
T3 I (IFMAR- ROAR)
T5

New pipe is the Evo3

Default Worlds edition cranks

Mr afm,
What do your sources say about the cranks in the worlds edition snapping off near the rod pin.
Nearly Every one that has one here in Aus has copped this.
Is there a replacement rod mind u thengine damage sustained is major.
My one lasted run in period and 1/2 a meeting.

Cheers

Thanks very much AFM. That answered my question. I guess I will wait for the T3/T5. Do you know if it will come with a hardened crank like the WCR? The exploded view does show a blackened crank so I hope that is the case.

Yeh I 2nd that Alex myn did the exact same thing on the front straight at NSW states I was pretty pissed, they have awsome power but they just don't last . There should be a recall on this motor since it has happened to alot of people.

I would suggest that you contact Andrea Rossi (the man) through the Sirio forum in their own web page, or send him an e-mail trough contacts in the same web page.

Since November last year, I'm Southamerican dealer for STS Racing, and I never got the WCR Sirios, so I can't tell you what issues are around those engines.
My guess would be that since they had a hardened crank, it might have been to much, so material snaps in certain conditions, but as I say, it's my personal opinion.

Still, Sirio's are great engines, and in the process of evolution all manufacturers make mistakes now and then..........have fun.

You're welcome Jeffrey

I don't no that answer, because as i said before, I'm currently distributing STS Racing engines, and i have no hands on Sirio engines since November last year.
