What's a good exhaust set to get for an .12 EVO3 engine?
I know the Sirio 2611 is best suited (and illegal at present) but also interested in others as well.

Default Sirio 27 carb tuning

I just got my Revo running with the Sirio 27. The engine runs good, but I am not sure how it should perform. I have another Revo that had the 2.5R Traxxas engine on it. Even though the 2.5 would not pull the front wheels off the ground, it would lift the suspension.

My Sirio will not even do that. It takes quite a while for it to get up to speed, but when it does, it runs great. The one thing I noticed, it blows a lot of blew smoke out the exhaust, through the RPM range. It know it is oiling well and I leaned it out a little. The bottom end did improve, but it is still very sluggish off the line. I don't want to go to lean on it. I don't think I am that far off from optimum performance. I have not messed with the low speed needle, much. I turn it in about an 1/8 turn. That helped a little, but not as much as I thought it would have.

Any one have any thoughts?

Your Sirio should flip the truck over backwards when applying full throttle! I don't want to tell you to lean it out, without seeing what else might be going on. But the performance should be 'eye popping'. Check to make sure nothing is slipping, or that your tranny is stuck in 2nd gear.
It's quite possible that you are simply too rich. Main needle must be set first. Low speed adjusted after the main is properly set.

Thanks for the response, do you know what the setting should be for the hsn? I was kind of thinking it was set a little high myself. As far as the tranny, I pulled it apart and everything looked ok. The shifter gear spring was working properly.

Differences in fuel, atmospheric conditions, glow plugs, etc. render needle settings irellevant when compairing one location/engine/operator to another. Furthermore, significant damage to the needle seat can occur from bottoming out the needle. In other words, NEVER bottom out a needle in order to count turns out! Since you can start and run your engine, just start it up, richen it untill it gets very sluggish and reluctant to attain high rpm. Make high speed pass, stop and lean needle by 1/8 turn in. Repeat untill engine 'sings' on subsequent high speed pass. Good smoke trail should still be present when accellerating. Low speed needle can then be set. There are a few tests you can use to determine low speed mixture. After high speed pass, come in and stop in front of you. Let it idle for 5 seconds. Do a full throttle start and gauge it's response. The longer it idles, the more it should 'load up'. Adjust the low speed needle so that the engine responds crisply from a quick stop and go, but stumbles after idleing for 10 seconds or more. Might even flood and die if you let it idle for longer. That's OK, as long as it responds well from brief stop and go.

The Sirio 2611 pipe is the only one to get. I run this pipe at all tracks and it is always awesome.

You need to get the "original" 2611 which has the thinner stinger. Check with Grassy as he works at Kellets and will know if they have any in stock.

If not I might have an old one if your desperate.

I noticed your in Sydney also. Come down to Moorebank on Sunday, Grassy and I will be there. Just look for the fast Sirio powered cars.....

Have also been told that the RB 2611 exhaust kit is also well suited

I've always reckoned the fast guys are the sirio powered ones

i have them same motor in my revo , and it is awsome heaps of power , when i first put it in the slipper clutch had to be tightened, i also run the RB big block pipe with it ( TM-RV/02 ) I think
what plug number and nitro content are you running?

I had an old plug around that I put in to get it running. Does the plug matter after the engine is running? I am running Monster 20% fuel in it. This is the same fuel that I am running in my OS18. I am not sure if it is the clutch or not, the engine just won't rev up on the low end. It bogs for a while, then it will slowly gain speed. Top end is good, I just don't know if it is stuck in 2nd gear or not. Every now and then I think I hear it shift. I am going to set the shift point in the middle and go from there.

The Sirio .27 generally runs much stronger than what you've described. I would get the engine started, warm it up a bit, then let idle for a about 10 seconds. Then, pinch the fuel line (it doesn't matter where). If the engine continues running for longer than 6-7 seconds, then the bottom end is too rich. If the engine stalls more quickly, then it's probably too lean. Try it out and let me know what happens. The high-speed needle may need some adjustment as well, but getting the low-speed needle in the right range will help.

Hi guys I am posting for a friend who has a evo4 .12 and on the weekend his engine just lost complete compression after only approx running 5 tanks through it at no time did it ever over heat and was running very rich as I witnessed on the track myself, but on saturday it clearly had no pinch at all I could spin the flywheel allowing the piston to move freely through tdc anyone else had this happen could this simply be a manufactured fault as a piston and sleeve replacement is not only hard to find but also expensive
any suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes, the plug does make a difference after the engine is started. Not as big a difference as you are experiencing though. Check to make sure the throttle is actually opening all the way. Since you have recently switched engines, and adjustment to the linkage will likely be necessary. If you have allready done that, assume it is in second gear and tighten the adjustment screw a little. The pinch test for low-speed needle adjustment, must be performed after main needle is set. Main needle (high speed) adjustments make mixture changes accross the entire throttle range. Pinch test at idle will reveal mixture conditions at idle, but does not isolate which needle needs to be adjusted, unless the main needle is set first!

We have a box full of CL7Rs that are ABC. They may not all be ABC, but I have a box of them sitting 5 feet from my desk.

Speedy, the xXx Sirio .12 is supposedly going to be available in the near future, but only as a Limited Edition as I understand it. I'll let you know when I know more.
