Should not have to type 248 twice, just hold the ALT key down while typing 248 and release alt key and it ° will appear.:)

enjoy giani

you will have to rebreak the engine in

use a heat gun to preheat
ENGINE RUN IN

use a heat gun to heat to 200 before you start at each step

You will have to play with the needles a little bit and cover the head of your engine with a pit rag (or similar)

do 3 heat cycles within the first tank at 190-210 degrees (3-5 min. intervals),
at idle on stand? yes.

then run it around on the ground gently only slightly rich keeping the temp between 210-230 (monitoring temps frequently ) careful not to let the engine get into its powerband , do this for about 1 full tank at a time but do not let it run out of fuel .do this for 3 tanks (cooling in between tanks), quarter throttle or so with short blips of more (full) throttle ..

not fast? slow pulls on the throttle in 30-40ft bursts .

then richen the needles a bit and run it about 190-210 on the track for 3 straight tanks monitoring temps frequently(every 2 laps) for the first couple of minutes until the engine runs at a consistent temp and feel.(start to lean out slowly)when you get it tuned in to where its not totally screaming but you have enough power to make the jumps with a slight bog at full throttle and runs at about 210-230, let it cool

(check the plug at this point),

what am I looking for exactly on the plug ? make sure the plug still glows and looks new, if it looks all distorted pull it out as you dont want a plug filament to go through the engine

go out and run the rest of the gallon til the engine richens up dramatically on its own and the temp drops instantly (i call it "dropping its nuts"). this process sometimes takes more than a full gallon .hope this helps ya , pretty detailed

I have had great success with this method and longevity , monty

Hey Wes, this is Shane from up at flowood. I just got an st-rr and I have my plus 4 and a n21 limited. I was really wanting to keep those for my buggy. I know that zach was running a novarossi engine in his truggy, so what do you recommend? Was it the fms that he was running? Just trying to find out what in your, actually anyones opinion as far as which novarossi worked best in truggy. Thanks!

HI monty when breaking in a engine do you run it in o 25 or 30% byrons also when idleing on the box to get it up to temp do you lean the hsn or the lsn also when driving on the floor for a few tanks do you lean hsn or lsn

also would you put in the extra head shim in for breakin

Thanks Ben

clutch

Ha Monty,

Looking to change clutch sys. and wondering what you would suggest. Currently I am running the fioroni clutch in buggy & truggy 70/30 split, on the .28 1 hard & 2 standard, the .21 1 standard & 2 hard. I like the maintenance of the clutch and it works great in the .28 but on the .21 it has a slight bog off the bottom. Looking for a clutch that grabs strong & has good durability. I have not ran a standard 3 shoe alum. in a few yrs. but I remember there was a lot of maintenance.( constantly filing shoes, bearing and spring replacement. Any suggest. would be appreciated. Have heard the m2c 4 shoe were good clutch set ups.:

Just checked my e-mail and I see my new 21-5K is on the way, should be here tomorrow, After you did your tuning and R2R break-in how much more til I can open it up?
And THANKS Monty
