speaking of good times. I had a blast with the Plus 4 and R2R service from Monty. That engine was awesome this weekend. The track was different from any I had run on before. NO JUMPS!! WTF? LOL. But it was the highest speed track I've ever been on. I'm talking WFO for 5-6 full seconds at two different spots on the track, the rest was mid-3/4 throttle. Very Fast Track and flowing. There was a pucker factor at the end of the front straight.

Anyways, the Plus 4 was awesome. Idled perfect for refueling, performed consistent for the whole 30 minute main, I pitted a third time just to be safe since the engine had just "dropped it's nutz" in the beginning of the day during practice. I would have been comfortable pitting after 10 but I had a pit man who hasn't pitted for me ever, and with the engine being just run it I played it safe. Monty I think I'm a lifetime fan buddy. Thanx again.

Chris

Monty..I dont see why you have decided to drag me into your spat with Tony and Casey and Chuck..I have been telling you from the first time I spoke to you that I respect your engine experience and your knowledge. Lord knows it far exceeds mine..My problem with you is you talk down to people. you come across like you are the only person who knows anything about anything, and you reply with rude sarcastic posts if someone else gives an opinion..even if the opinion is correct..In my case you needed to poke fun because I cant drive everyone knows I drive Novice class, but that does not disallow my 11 years of Nitro knowledge, and you felt a need to belittle me for trying to help someone else on this thread when it was totally uncalled for and unnecessary. This little war you have going on with the the other guys..Leave me out of it, as I have said my piece already and I said it to you long before I said it to anyone else..Out of Respect for you and The Nitro Pit owners who are all friends, do not include me in your personal bashing contests, as I will not play

however you may feel i have belittled you or what not . that would never be my intention james !!!! i strive to be as cool as i can be and do get a little perturbed when people for some reason call me egotistical or arrogant or whatever because that is so not me .

apparently i am one of those guys you gotta meet in person to read my sarcasm and get used to my nomenclature .

i will stay off of all the forums if you guys from AZ wish .

thanks,
monty

is it the 9901ss or the standard 9901 ?

i wouldn't cutoff any if you can get away with it but i would not recommend cutting off more than 3-4mm if you absolutely must

Hi monty it is the normal 9901 first race out with it i tangled up in heat 1 and it folded the stinger flat to the pipe

i have managed to bend it back straight but the stinger is dented in. The pipe is in the freezer as we speak. is there a magic way to pull it out. hopefully the freezer will do that. i wanted to cut a bit off to keep it out the way a bit

Hey Houston, cool thread!

I have an OS Vspec .21 in my truggy that I know is capable of HAULIN.

Right now, it seems to have a great tune (good idle, top and bottom both come on strong but motor isnt getting hot). For whatever reason, I keep fouling out, at random.

Last time I ran the motor I went through a center and rear diff, so the motor was working very, very hard before I pulled her off. I believe we temped her at like 300*.

Since then I put new clutch shoes in, rebuilt the diff's and put the motor back in. Now I can't get her to stay running for the life of me. She will sit there and idle, but seems to die at random.

I am completely new to the RC car/Nitro scene, and I'm wondering what the first steps I should do.

thats one thing about those pipes the new ss pipes are pretty strong though

you might get it in the freezer

after freezing once run some warm water around where you want it to push out some more and repeat until you get the desired effect

i wish i was a vspec pro but i am not

i have seen quite a few vspecs that the cranks wore out very quickly causing them to quit at full throttle .

is there any compression left in the engine ?

When you get a chance take your engine apart and feal the main bearing in the case. Make sure that it is not grity at all. It needs to be as free as possible. Since V-Specs run without any compression, any bind what-so-ever anywhere will cause it to stall.

if you dont feel comfortable taking your own engine apart , have someone who you know is good at it take care of it for ya .

rear bearing size is 14x25.4x6mm incase you need to know

thank you chuck for offering some insight to what could be wrong

btw , 300* is pretty hot

For what it is worth guys, lot's of good info here. I offer not much in the way of rc knowledge compared to all of you BUT, working in the HVAC industry you can use ALT 248 to get the degree symbol ° when you are typing. Happy typing, just thought I'd help where I can. LOL

Sooo 300°
