Purple O'donnell plugs?

Hey Monty,
What's the verdict on the Purple O'Donnell plug you grabbed from me. Did you like it?

Lonestar 08-05-2009 07:13 AM

Re slotted screws, especially the cooling head one, I picked up a Profi-Tool by Hudy a few years back which is purpose-design for Nova head screws. It shouldn't cost more than $10, it's a 5.8mm tip that falls RIGHT IN the Nova's screw heads. Insert it in the whole, turn gently, TICK, there you go. One of the smartest ideas from Juraj, really (this and the spring pulling tool )

Hi Monty,

I have a question about sleeve pinching - what this essentially does is squeeze matter to reduce the inner sleeve diameter, right? But this matter has to be coming from somewhere... namely the outer side. Hence my question: once the pinching is done, the fit of the sleeve in the case can't be as perfect as before, which means the sleeve will be able to move (radially, at least) around (even if a tiny bit) or at least vibrate (as it should be kept in place axially by the plug insert), how much risk does this represent for an engine revving at 30Krpm?

Thanks :)

Regards,
Paul (still learning the ropes of IC engines...)

lonestar ; in testing the sleeves resized by rayaracing (they were done very well) i did not notice any leakage in the area around the sleeve and the fit in the block . some even had a better fit after they were done by ray :)
