LOL

Not a typo. Meant to say 'boob' (as in rube, dolt, moron, etc).

Plus I like saying boob.

Boob.

Boob.

Boob.

Boob.

:lol::D:lol:

I would like to add that I'm not trying to get into a peeing match with Monty. I certainly don't know anywhere near as much about Novarossi engines as he does. I just disagree with him about the slotted screws.

Wow. I said 'boob', 'peeing', and 'screws' in one post!

Other engine manufacturers get by just fine with hex head screws holding their engines together. If Novarossi realy didn't want neophites to overtorque their screws then they'd be better served using some obscure screw head type (such as a Torx) as the need to buy a new driver would discourage tampering. Glad they didn't do that...

By the same token, a person who knows what he's doing doesn't need a specific screw head type to keep him from buggering things up with too much torque. There's plenty of ways that a boob can destroy their engine without ever turning a fastener. A slot head screw also invites a knucklehead to use his Wal-Mart screwdriver set to work on his engine. A neophite wouldn't know that they need a hollow ground screwdriver to keep from stripping the screw heads anyways. "Heck, it's a flat head ain't it?"

I've disassembled my Nova, Picco, OS, and other engines several times over the last couple of decades, so I certainly know what I'm getting into. Every other screw on my cars (with the exception of the carb needles) are hex head. Either I have to buy a Hudy specialty screwdriver or I've gotta swap out to hex head screws on the Novas and RBs. Think I'll buy a couple of bags of socket head screws for the heads and backplates in bulk... :tire:

as i said , disassembly is not recommended id you are not experienced and dont know what you are getting into ;)

if you do then you shouldnt have any problems

heard a lot of good things about your service when I was in the Region 9 roar race this weekend
I have tried ebmods extech and go and extech tuned motors and am still looking for a new tuner
I am not good at tuning my engines and was very disappointed with the extech trinity tuned bec the needles were set rich after being tuned which I dont understand

My questions are?
Do you tune the engines and then set the needles rich or race tuned?
What tuning do I have to do if I get a motor (since I really am bad at tuning) that I will use here in south texas?
What is the difference in power/runtimes with the novarossi n21fb and the plus 4?
I am not a beginner but always run my engines rich, I just dont want to buy an expensive engine and blow it up with poor tuning by me
thanks

I live in Kansas. I'm not sure exactly where Monty set the needles when he broke in my Plus 4 but he mentioned he usually richens the needles a few hours before sending them out. So when I received my engine it was near spot on. After 3-4 minutes driving slowly around the track to warm up, the engine just recquired minimal adjustment to make good power and run consistently. Awesome!!

I know Monty and he is a true master with Nitro engines. I am lucky enough to live near him and he has hands-on tuned my engine that I bought from him. He actually race tunes every engine that he sells as "Houston-tuned" He installs them in his own buggies and track tunes them. He sends them out ready to go with minimal fine tuning. He is available to give advice over the phone. I have called him from the track when my engine was acting funny and he was able to help me fine tune it myself . You cant go wrong with Monty. I endorse his business fully.

Houston,

I love your thread for tuning and break in. I find like most them to be very informative. Any chance of starting an engine maintenance thread?

How offten do most racers tear down their mills. What are you looking for. How often do guys change conrods, wrist pins, etc. Best cleaners while tearing down a mill. Things along those lines.

What mills require the least maintenace other than after run, airfilters and such. My Go techs seem to last a few gallons before losing tune, and performance due to needing rods or whatever.

Thanks....

Thanks guys
I have read only good input about Houston engine service looks like I have a new motor tuner
Does anyone have his telephone number?
Thanks again

Monty
will the economical n21fb be competative for club racing and against the plus 4

USP45 08-04-2009 01:27 PM

Hey DRRC the 21 will be competative, but if you want it to be REALLY competative have Monty mod it. Then it will scream.

Houston-I saw you posted in a thread 'RB 9 from hell' to try an odonell 77 plug. My C6 USA is amazing, but seems to flame out on pit stops once in awhile. I feel I cant count on it. I made a splash guard for the pipe, but I didnt get douched with fuel this weekend on a stop and it still flamed out. I just ordered some Odonell 77t and 97t plugs from your advice. Anything else that you could add? Do Odonells have the same taper as the RB plugs I have been running? I have been running #6's

yes the odonnell plugs are the same taper as the novarossi plugs so if you think you dont like them you can switch back to nova .

you wont though ;)

Hi Monty,
You said you were going to be testing Novarossi plugs over the summer to see if they solved some issues you had found in the past. How did the testing go?

Thanks

Cool, I have been running the C5G ultra special with good results. I have quite a few left but when I run out I am going to try the Odonnells. No big hurry on the other stuff, it's mostly for backup motors and when it's time to rebuild stuff.

Thanks
