Monty,
Ran about a 1/2 gallon through the plus 4 yesterday in the truggy
I really like the motor
What would a good temp range for operation be?
I have it in the 210 - 220 range now

230-240 for me usually , if it runs good and runs that cool then your golden . keep pre heating the engine for a little bit just to be safe ;)

Still no luck

Hi Monty

I tried another tank from my old xb8 and brand new fuel line and it also has a new cluch but still no luck with the P5

the engine seems to run fine but a bit rich from top to bottom good smoke but would benifit from being leaned out not quite making the rpms

then touching no needles it suddenly goes to 4 million rpm on top with minimal smoke (tiny bit still visible) and it flys along then off throttle and back on power and back to too rich again

also on the bottom end it does the same there is no power or smoke untill it hits the powerband one minute its fine the next no power.

some times on the bottom when i accelerate hard there is no power on the bottom an no smoke then when it hit the powerband there is smoke. i have done the pinch test and from idle the engine died it 4 seconds

it sounds like an air leak i know but the engine has only 1.5 gallons on it and there are no fuel leaks anywhere front bearing is dry

what shall i do next it is driving me nuts

Thanks Ben

you quite possibly could either have a cracked case , happens often with standard two piece engine mounts or there is something stuck in your hsn such as pieces of the filter stone .

monty

if you want to send it in just lmk ;)

and btw , how do you get 4 million rpm out of these engines:confused::weird: WOW:lol:

I have some curious marks on the piston of my P5X: they're not really scratches per se, they're more like highly-polished blemishes (probably caused by the mechanical pinch. Anyone think this could be problematic?
