Hi Houston,

I have a backup P5XS (2008), and got it from a buddy. I am running a STRR, on medium size tracks. It has been a long time since I ran a P5.....what is a good restrictor to use (7 or 7.5mm?) and pipe for my tracks? I have a 2050, JP2, Dynamite 53, Dynamite 86, and MSR1005 pipe. I have a long header, a Dynamite header, the stock T2050 header, and what I think is a short ] shaped header (pretty sure it came from the MSR 1005 pipe, but it has been so long, I am not sure).

What changes/improvements were made between the older 21-7 and the newer FMS? How is the performance different between the two? I may be able to pick up a low-time older 21-7 from a club member for a very good price. I'm looking to run it in a truggy in place of my RB TM928 as I won't be able to spend the $$$ on a new Nova for a few months. :tire:

Houston with everything being stock... What would be the difference in putting only a P5SX Crank in a BF limited??

Could you please explain what epoxy in a crank does.

Engine tear down today. Everything looks nice but I am wondering how much tolerance can there be on the rod. My crank pin looks good but the lower rod bushing measured about 5.00mm vertical and about 4.96/4.97 lateral. Is it time for a new rod?

8mm restrictor , either dynamite 053mr w/ ] header or 086hs w/ )dynamite header . the msp 1005 is good also but i feel the dynamite pipes feel better . 053 on tracks where you guys have short run ups to jumps and dont have huge straights , 086 hs for fun screamin power :D

the 21-7 is a killer engine  the fms is a revised version that has a few timing changes , ceramic bearings and a special crank . if that 21-7 is in excellent shape then it would be worth it for ya .

the newer p5xs cranks are little lighter as they are drilled ,the epoxy gets rid of any turbulence pockets that could build up in the crank intake window. haven't really noticed any ill effects between filled/non-filled cranks though .

warranty is over now , you took it apart :D

it shouldn't need a new rod  but it wont hurt to put a new one in ;)

086hs way better ? happy with the engine ? did you heat the engine up before starting in runin period , i know you usually do :tire:

tomdav 04-20-2009 12:38 PM

The 86 was perfect. It was heated for breakin but last weekend I was a little lax in my routine.

Hi Monty, my engine is here. Thank you. Great engine, better price, and service to boot. Cool if I call you? Have a question or two. Feedback left.
