I don't really need it right now. And, my local track has decided to run race on the weekends I have to work. I found this out today, so I may not be racing much more then the Mo State Series, and I don't need a $500 motor for 3 races (1st round is already done)..

Let me just say that I was really happy with the engines this week. I know most of you saw Cody flame on the last lap, but that was my mistake. We were going 10:15 on fuel all week, and I got his last fuel stop early because I wanted to put the pressure on Mailfield knowing he had to stop again. Problem is I didn't account for the filter getting dirty, plus Cody used more throttle because battling with Ryan, and he barely made the line for the last lap too, which probably added 30 seconds to my estimate. That was my fault.

I was just talking to Cody about how flawless our engines have been for the last couple years. I mean we literally haven't had a single issue. Knock on wood, but it's pretty remarkable to go two years without missing a beat with the engines.

I know my Orion Discovery is awesome, and I plan to get another if I don't or can't get one of the WCE engines..

Hi, Pitpop or someone that could help me,
I just ordered one Team Orion combo CRF ALPHA.21 ABI 5P CERAMIC with pipe

https://www.ssl-stormerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/seekpart.pl?src=cs&pn=ORN80680

I believe this combo comes with 2066 pipe, right?

I know the better ones are 2013 or 2058 so, is this pipe so bad????I noticed on picture that this pipe/manifold has a small tube/piece to make the pipe "longer", do I need to use it or better not?
What is the better glowplug to use with 25 or 30% nitro, if I do not have Orion glowplugs can I use OS P3/P4 like I read here?

Do I have to use the stock underhead shims that comes assembled on the engine?
Which carburator restrictor works better? How many carburator restrictors comes with the engine on the box? i.e 7,0mm, 6,0mm , 6,5mm...?

The track that I will use this engine is bumby and low traction, maybe same conditions for Silver State A main final that happened last weekend......

Sorry to ask a lot , due I did not receive the engine yet.

When I receive it I want be ready to use it properly.

Thanks a lot

According to the Picture it comes with a 2057, which will be great for Buggy. If it comes with the extension run it for more bottom end. How ever hobby stores some times use generic photos to cover many of similar. If it comes with a 2066 it isn't the best pipe for it, but it'll work, just not ideal. 7mm restrictor seems to be the norm, and I would bet it only comes with 1 restrictor which will most likely be the 7mm.

Otherwise that engine is going to be a screamer, and will fling a buggy around nicely..

Just try the pipe and see how you like it. 2058/2013 just make tons of power and 2066 might be smoother. Just try it with extension and without, but make sure to break in the engine completely, like almost a gallon of fuel before it really runs right. If you are new to the hobby, keep both inner and outer air cleaner foams oiled, and change them often.

I would choose P4 if I didn't have Orion plugs. I highly recommend the Orion plugs, they last longer and are designed for the engine. 30% nitro is the best option.

I recommend not to open the engine up, and definitely advise against changing the shimming. I don't know your skill level, but I don't even like to open up the engines myself. Not a lot of good can come out of it.

Not sure what it comes with, but I think 7mm is the best.

turn down the epa and easy on the trigger :D

I am still learning this nitro stuff....When would I run the #6 plug over the #5 plug in my CRF Alpha? Thanks.

Eastside777 04-13-2011 08:26 AM

Will a Nova Carb work on the Orion engines?

#6 plug in hot conditions and #5 in colder... the heat range on the plugs is like the timing adjustment on your car. The #5 advances the timing because it runs hotter with a thinner wire.
