What is the needle settings for a C6BBT? mine is still just getting broke in, I have less than 1 gallon thru it, it's really hard to keep the temps below 265, and thats tuff at times, I'm runnig the 2045 pipe with 192 header on Byrons 30% gen II.
Well one thing I would suggest to start is get the 198 header if your running the C6 in a truggy. As for the needles, when I was there a month ago both my LSN and HSN were very close to flush. I never use a temp gun so I can't really say what my temps were down there but I generally just make sure I can touch my hand to the head for a second. Also your temps are going to be a little hotter untill it is fully broken in. Once the motor completely frees up your temps should drop a good 20 degrees. Next time you temp your motor and the temp gun says 265ish try the spit test right away as well, if it really is 265 the spit should burn off very very fast. As long as you have good smoke and you don't have any lean bogs from the engine I would say you are fine. |
Yea, I missed you when you were down here, I have had surgery on my kne just after Xmas, so wasn't able to get around to easy, you coming down for the Nitro Challenge next week? I have used the 198 header, at the pit, it'll top out before your to the end of a straight, the 192 tends to smooth out the bottom end, so it's not so insane, this is the first time I've tried the C6, I have ran mostly the WS7 line for about 10 years, totally different engine. I', also trying to get a Killer 9 broken in, what a pain in the arss, it's temps are low, and hard to get over 200, I'm using an exergen temp gun by the way, so I'm confident in my temps.

Yeah it does top out on the long straight there but I like to have the low end power for the other sections of the track. Just glance at your needles and makes sure both are fairly close to flush. I have also used Exergen temp guns quite a bit and they are what made me give up on using temp guns. I know they are very expensive and very accurate but that is under perfect conditions, we put those things thru hell and they end up with dust and oil and grime on the lens and then it gets wiped off and it's a smear and then more dirt and oil. I have tried 3 different exergen temp guns within seconds of each other and all 3 were diff temps that varied by over 30 degrees. I won't be able to make the Nitro Challenge this year as I have a ton of vacation I am already using to go racing this year. I was there last year and had a TON of fun and will probably be back next year. My daughter lives in Arizona now so I will probably be out there shortly after the NC for another points race on the NC layout so I can get my ACS t-shirt. |
Are you going to the Silverstate race in March11-14? Joey is building and running that race, as well as his renown Nitro Challenge, As a matter of fact, Kenny B. is the race director for the Silverstate this year.

I am pretty sure I know the guy you are talking about, all I know him as is Wolf. He really only races at Rat Raceway, but I do see him there several times a year. |
Yea, sounds like the same person, he does race at Rat raceway, where do you race?

I usually race at Rat 5 or 6 times a summer, they hold the annual Colo State Championship. Rat is a sweet location but it's the smallest track we have here and they don't have water at the track. I race a lot at the track in Colorado Springs where the Nats will be as well as out in Burlington, Co. Burlington is our largest track and since it's out in the middle of nowhere we can camp out there in RV's or tents for the weekend and really just spend the weekend partying :D We also have a track in Littleton that is at a hobby shop that does Sunday racing, it's in an open Park space so the track gets pretty beat up with people out there bashin around all the time. The town I live in (Longmont) has a Hobbytown that got permission from the city to turn the old BMX track in town into a R/C track so I hope that comes out good so I have an option 5 minutes away. If you need to escape the heat this summer you may wana drive up north and race with us. We have races scheduled every weekend all summer long with all the tracks and they have scheduled around each other so if one track is racing the others are not. |
Yea, I would like to come up and race, my problem is, right now I have been off work since August, I had knee surgery in Aug, then again in December, so, I don't know how much time I will have left after I'm fully recovered from my surgeries.

Rb shark .21
Does anyone have any info on the SE shark .21 ? I run a c6 now and want a motor with great power but good runtimes. 14mm crank 3 port with a balanced crank. I know the c6 is a hard motor too compare too but the shark looks strong and the price is decent compared too the c6.

I just broke in my shark and it has TONS of power. Runtime is a lil better than c6 too. The Shark has a different power curve than the c6. It seems like it just gets up and is full rpm with no problem. Almost reminds me of how my e buggy is. Either way im sure you will like it.:D

What % fuel are you guys going to run in the shark ? And does it come shimed for 20% or 30% fuel. I geting ready to drop the $$$ in the next day or so and im trying to find the best deal on the rb shark. Looks nice and with only 400 made im trying to jump on it. Cant wait for another great year with RB:sneaky:. Thanks Speedy

Im running 30% in mine with stock shims. I use 30% in all my motors for the most part. 30% seems to give u the lil extra punch on the bottom end. Also, try a short mugen header(MUGJX14002) with the 2045 pipe. Ive tried it on the c6 and it really opens the motor up more and it doesnt seems to lose hardly any bottom but it screams alot harder on the top end.
