I agree with pulling and measuring. The Fire line of engines has always been pieced together engines to use up old stock so things change on them often and many times one person will get one that has different parts than one another racer in the same town got. As an example the exploded view shows the engine having an MES exhaust, but many of them are coming with a single exhaust port.

BXR Exhaust
Currently am running a 2045 and getting 10+mins runtime. Problem I have is the 2045 manifold wont fit in the MP9. So, I could get a different manifold, but it won't look right (yes, call me a tart).
Have a few questions: -Anyone know if the RB2097 is the same as the Nova9901 (shape looks very similar) -How does the RB2097 compare to the Nova2096? Looking for a smoothish pipe on bottom and a strong top end. |

2097 it is then, was hoping to save a bit of cash as the 9901 is a fair bit cheaper than the 2097 in the UK.

I just ordered the BXR with pipe combo and trying to figure out what plugs I need to have on hand. I don't believe there are going to be a lot of people or sales with turbo plugs and I want to have what I need on hand. I see RB came out with new plugs but in looking at the posts here there is not a lot of chat about them. I live in north Georgia and will be racing around the area so for the next couple of month its going to be roughly 30-50 degrees. What plugs should I order and have on hand?

The couple times I've run with a guy running0 a BXR with 2097, it looked pretty awesome to me..
Here - the yellow one..(the other one is a Blast V1 - also looked quite good..)

RB Plugs have not been easy to get. Seems the US distributor changes every 1-2 years ever since I got into racing and some years things are easier to get than others. I started running the Novarossi C5TGC and C6TGC plugs and have had great luck with them in any RB I have tried them in. IMO it's good to keep medium and hot plugs for these engines, I seem to run the hot the most often due to my altitude.

Hey y'all, I'm a recent convert to the RB nation. I just bought a new WS9 from a friend in Singapore. I know its an older engine, but it only has a few tanks on it (just broken in). The price was reasonable, so hopefully I didn't just make a big mistake by not buying a BX or BXR.
I've read through most of the WS9 posts in the thread, any tips or suggestions on maintenance intervals or things to watch for? |
The WS series of engines have always been my favorites!!! They are a square stroke engine with a smooth bottom end and tons of top end!!! Best part was they are a very easy engine to tune. One thing you will want to remember is the engine does not have a really aggressive bottom end. I used to run a 50 tooth spur on my Losi rather than a 48, so I could get a little extra grunt. Around here we have tracks with short run ups to jumps so I would change gearing or run heavier clutch springs. If you have an open flowing track this engine will be great with your normal gearing/cluth. If your track is tight and requires a lot of torque you may need to play with gearing and clutch.
Also they say to replace the rods at 3 gallons but I have never done that. I had several WS7 engines make it well over 10 gallons on the stock rod and bearings. Pre heat the engine and keep dirt out of it and it will last a long time as is!! |
Can someone tell the OD of the rear bearing for the BXr....... I know the ID is 14.5mm

Lille, what do you reckon? I've found the following deals:
1.) RB Fire Combo, €175 shipped 2.) Nova P5XLT, €165 shipped 3.) Sirio C7LB combo (don't know which pipe) €185 shipped.. I'm thinking the Fire has the best power there?.... Do people really race with Fires though? Don't seem to see them much.. |
