I talked to Ed and a few others this w/end at CRC -Rome,NY RCPro North East Rd. 1. Seems general consensus is OS P4. Might be just due to our weather, I dunno. I thought the Nova 6 was suggested early on, but now I am hearing P4...take that with a grain of salt. Anyway, here's a few shots from Rome. :)

well my new motor and pipe will be arriving tomorrow and i am curious as to what fuel you all would suggest for this motor?
|
;)

Got a couple more race days on both of mine and they seem to be getting better with each run. The Trinity fuel works good with the motors, but any good quality fuel probably should. Went two race days with out changing the plugs and temps were around 208 to 220 most of the time. Seems like a big swing in temps, but that was over the race day and I didn't change a thing on the carb. Didn't really think I needed to as they were running good and didn't seem to be lacking anywhere on the track. Morning air temp was around 65 and high for the day was 98 with 85% humidity.

So its odd that the motor pictured on Trinities Website looks like a old school sirio, yet on A-Mains site the motor is using the new case..... As well I was told the Ex-tech was a short stroke 16.6 mm stroke..now A-Main is saying its a 16.8 mm ....... I was guessing its 16.9 mm......................... Why so much discrepancy with all the info and pictures ? A-Main write up talks about square stroke and everything.... It seems this motor is surrounded with mystery and misinformation to be honest.....
I plan to purchase a X-Tech asap, and hopefully have it dynoed over at AB Mods... I will also be measuring bore/stroke and timing profiles for myself....With my mods my CL7B is ballistic, I am really curious what can be done to the Extech |
Maximo - That picture was done in photoshop before our case was finished. I posted on page 6 in this thread all ths spec's. Stop trying to cause problems in our thread. It is getting old..

OKay so A-Mains info is all wrong then ? I am not trying to cause problems, but I am wondering why there are so many discrepancies in all the info....If me asking questions pisses you off maybe you should check A-Mains info and compare to the info you gave me....... I am just asking a honest question....... IMO A-Main has gotten their description mixxed up, they have the writeup for the .24 combined with the writeup from the .21, then thrown in some standard .21 internal dimensions....... They did the same thing with the jammin JPX .28, having its stroke labeled as 16.8 mm which in turn made people believe the Jammin JPX was some new short stroke engine unique to Jammin... I actually bought one thinking it would be a short stroke Picco LOL !!!!!! ended up it was just a Picco P3 28 FTT with a red head ! |
much appreciated fellas :D

Ran two tanks through mine today. Other problems prevented more time.
I'm running a P4 with the W 2013. I think I'm gonna marry this engine! LMAO. I hope to get more practice tomorrow, depending on work, then big one day race on Sun.Engine was very snappy on the bottom even with a relatively soft clutch. It would sit n idle for ten seconds or more and not load up. Top was obviously not would it could be, but it was still making great power. The thing that impressed me most so far was...long story short, I ended up on my lid. By the time I got off the stand and to the bug, at least a minute had passed. I also took my time walking to it, figuring it would flame before I reached it. As I got within about ten feet or so, I could here it, burbling, purring like a little kitten :) |
good to hear about the engine im haven problems with mine

Hey, Joe thanks for the pipe info it helped out alot
|
hot and medium plugs (standard and turbo) and 2057 pipes are instock
now.. |
Has anybody tried the associated pipe on the extech yet? Also you guys are saying this motor has a ton of bottom end, when putting the 053 on did it have to much? Im still deciding on a motor and im trying to take my time so i end up with a decent motor that matches my driving style.

I am comming from racing gas truck and this is my first season of 1/8th scale. I run an RC8 and currently run a Powerhouse modded Vega. the motor is great but it doesnt have a whole lot of life left but would make a perfect back up motor. I want the engine to have a nice smooth powerband and be good on fuel. I also like to have a strong bottom end but not to much to were it breaks loose everytime i hit the gas but enough to clear the jumps with no/little run-up. The motor will be modded by Mark Smith of Powerhouse performance but not right away becuase i want to run the motor to get a feel for it. So if you guys can post your suggestions for pipes and plugs that would be great. Also are the motors looking like they are going to last? Thanks in advance.

Today was my first outing with my Ex-Tech. I had two tanks through it earlier this week. Initially I was very concerned about racing with it, considering. I qual'd 8th in the B in a field of 40/50? This is a very good showing for me. Normally, I'm lucky to get into a D main, lol. Engine was temping right around 200 at the end of the 10 min. quals. Early on in the main I was battling for 4/5th, but (found out afterwords) 3 screws holding my steering servo had fallen out, and the fourth was half way out! Thx to Joe Alessi for the tuning help in the 2nd qual :)
