What an insainely fast engine !! It will run with a GRP and V-Spec all day long !! And then some ! I thinks me might have to get one for the new ride ;)

mp3ranger 08-23-2008 08:24 PM

I have around 2.5 gal on my stock extech .21 . Running it in a Losi 8ight buggy with the insert still in the gas tank. I am getting around 11 to 13 min run times.

brian kadow 08-24-2008 06:30 AM

What pipe are you running?

mp3ranger 08-24-2008 06:57 AM

I use a TSAIS 2053 pipe with D shape header . part # TSA-E0810C

Hi I have the basic Extech going on 3/4 of a gallon. Just a few thought.

Its very fast runs at low temps and consistent.

I have had a problem of blowing plugs. I started with a p3 for breakin and it lasted 2 tanks. I went to a p4 and finished the breakin and installed a new p3, it lasted 1 tank. Chad said my lsn was to lean i tried to set the carb to the settings in the instructions, not going to happen way off on the lsn. I set is so rich it would barely run and slowly leaned the lsn from there. I installed a p3 and four and they only lasted a few tanks. the coil becomes distorted. I am running plat. 30%. I finally went to a p7 and so far five tanks and its running great. I get about 8.5 minutes of runtime and temps are around 195 and i have really good power. I am running a jammin p4 pipe. I am in the process of purchasing a 2013.

How much leakage is acceptable from the front bearing?

Is there a replacement part number for the front bearing?(maybe a ceramic one?)

Thanks guys

speedy2 08-25-2008 03:38 AM

my std EB mods wouldn't start on my 12v box
found out why... the lsn was almost closed at idle...
and didn't let fuel through !
perhaps someone closed it helping me..?

opened 3/4 and magic.. idles like a clockwork
idles like 1 minute, and goes off like a bullet ...jammy..
gave it 4 more tanks but seemed broken in after 2
plenty of power like a JP B5t
low consumption, low temperature

I use P3, Sidewinder 25%, JP1 pipe...gonna try TTR 2035

If the 7 plug is working, stick with it. If you have problems with them blowing try adding a head shim.

I would not worry about the front bearing but if you want to go ceramic go here,

Hey guys, I just got the EB modded extech .24 for my Losi 8T. I tried reading through this thread, but gave up after going through the first 10 pages an not finding the answer. Sorry if this has been asked before, but I only have a Werks 053 pipe or a Dynamite 086 to match to this motor right now and can not afford another pipe for a bit. Which one would you guys recommned on the EB .24 on my truggy? I can drive anything and our track is medium in size. I need good bottom end, but there is one long straight section. The track gets a bit soft at times, so a smooth trigger finger with a real responsive bottom end seems to be the fast way around.

Thanks for the advice.

The Dynamite 086 will be a screamer on this engine.

I just tried a 2013 on my .21 on Wednesday and it is awesome!! Love the sound too ;)

I am thinking of picking up one of these motors, but was wondering if the crank is coated.

chuckinator 08-30-2008 02:09 PM

Has anyone had a chance to try a 3014 pipe yet?

I have not tried any 3000x numbered pipes yet and probably will NOT until they become required. The 3XXX pipes are made to all new IFMAR rules designed to reduce noise even more. As a result they will all make LESS power.

So, if you are looking to tone down an overpowered motor and maybe save a little fuel, go for it. If you are looking for power don't even bother.

Try 'em both! The 053 will be awesome I'll bet. If it ends up being too abrupt on the midrange then go to the 086...

a friend of mine just got the power pack extech combo which includes the extech clutch for his mugen , just to come to a complete stop , extech clutch
system for the mugen is about 4mm smaller than the original mugen flywheel and the starter box dont even touch it.....:flaming: i call trinity regarding this issue and they didnt or havent hear of it just yet , has anybody had this issue or know the solution , may be low profile motor mount , if mugen even makes one in this case , any input may help.

i meant the diameter of the extech adjustable clutch flywheel is smaller than the regular mugen flwheel:confused:

after seeing the X-Dyno results on these even after modified its clear Sirio has fallen short like they do with almost all of their off road engines. Ill stick with the VSPEC.

this engine is a huricane

turboxrayt1fk05 09-05-2008 02:55 PM

+111111 ,,,,, all i got to say that this motor is by far one of the easiest motor to tune if that , i broke in my buddy's motor for him 2 tanks heat cycled at 240deg , a 3rd tank sitting on the starter box (heatsink uncovered) , 4th tank
small burps around the backyard (no needle adjustment still) ,5th tank hsn lean out to 213deg and balls to the wall with it:nod::eek::tire::tire::tire::tire:
7 tanks on it and needle settings still pretty close to stock how i got it out the box:cool:, ready for supercross this sunday @ rc amdness , enfield ct.

????? I never do unterstand these comments were someone get's caught up in the dyno numbers. Last week my Extech powered XT8 was running along side a VSpec powered truggy and I would gain on the straight on him. The extech has a smooth strong low end depending on what pipe your running compared to the vspec that's spinning tires, but when he's pulling in to pit I'm still making laps.

In the last 2 years I've ran Go motors, Vspec's, MR Ninja's, Novarossi's and Extechs and by far the best motor has been the extech in terms of fuel economy and power.

speedy2 09-06-2008 12:36 AM

also, whatever you do, you never seem
to get them overheated

I know what you mean. Alot of people like to get caught up and jump on the "dyno is just for numbers bandwagon. Trust be told the dyno tells you exactly and consistantly what power your engine is making. It also tell you where its making all of its power. This is very usefull. The bes thing about a dyno is that it tells you the most important thing about an engine. Area under the curve.

Ive also noticed that just about everyone has XXX engine that blows past XXX engine. How do you know how well that engine is setup, running and tuned? you dont. Any engine can be slow. Its making them fast is what takes skill.

The Vspec is the best off road .21 ive ran into. It makes .28 power and actually holds the power in the top end. It also likes to spin RPM and sips on fuel. If course i can take the same engine and put some crap fuel in it with a JP3 and the wrong clutchbell and get dominated by a RTR engine.

The extech is OK at best. The RACE PREPPED EB Mods one only made 1.38HP on the xdyno(the same dyno EB has) Other than that this engine holds the power for a little bit in the upper RPM range it doesnt do it as well as even a stock VSPEC. for 450 it just seems your paying for a name. That money could be spent much much better. You dont haft to listen to me i understand you have your pride and all.
