I think they are very similar. I will try them back to back tomorrow night to see how they compare.

My order just arrived from Trinity and since the truggy pipe is on backorder I wanted to find out what the best alternative pipe is for the full mod .24. I've got a 053, novarossi 9886, trinity 2013 and a 086 on my extech buggy motor. The .21 extech that's in my buggy was in my truggy so if the 086 proves to much in the buggy I was going to switch to the 053...

Ex Tech power TQs @ RCDriver Race Of Champions/Wolcott Hobby in the hands of youngster Kyle Rhodes!!! I'll post main results and probably have some pics tomorrow or Monday. On a personal note, I tried running Truggy today. First time I have ever raced them, though I did beat around some last summer with a Muggy :batman:. I found a very good deal on a used X1 CRT, took all my gear out my my buggy, including my Ex Tech mill. After three rounds of 10 min quals, I B Q'd :) I havn't had such good results this summer with my buggy so I havn't "tooted my own horn" much...but I hafta say I am very happy and excited about the mains tomorrow.

I am at 4 gals now . The motor needs new front bearing and a connecting Rod. Still got lot pinch left. The motor did start losing gas mileage. That is why I took the motor apart.

tunning

hey guys how is the tunning on this engine. is it an easy engine to tune or not?and does it keep a tune easy?

speedy2 09-22-2008 04:08 AM

one of the easiest I had
just open a little bit lsn and hsn at the beginning
to be sure

Toiffel 09-22-2008 08:27 AM

I know this is non-related ExTech question, and I apoligize for that, don't wish to cause controversy or give anyone a heart attack.
That said, do you guys know where I can find what pipe does what?? I mean I know a 63 is low end and a 86 is top, but if I'm not mistaken those are EFRA numbers, what happens to the rest? Do they have an EFRA equivalent number or what??

Losi-Runner 09-22-2008 11:13 AM

well i am bout 3/4 of a gal in on my extech .21 n was attendin a big race and my pits guys sayin that even comin at 7:30 i still had bout 1/4 tank of fuel left. i've owned and gone through lots of engines and this gota b one of my fav.

Losi-Runner 09-22-2008 11:15 AM

oh btw, this was in my 8ight buggy wit a msr1005 pipe.

gtsum 09-22-2008 01:21 PM

quick comment on the ex tech - I raced against and pitted for 3 people this past weekend that were running them.....

Fully Modified 21 in Buggy - wow...easily the fastest car on the track...not even close...it made vspecs look like they were going backwards

Fully Modified 24 in truggy - brutally fast...incredible power, good powerband....it was thirsty though...5 1/2 minutes was the limit (running very rich however)

Regular 24 in truggy - very impressive, but the fully modified one was definately quite a bit stronger

2 of the people did appear to have some issues with fouling plugs and flameouts...I have heard some switch out the carbs to an OS or an RB though...they are definately serious, serious motors..no doubt about that

speedy2 09-23-2008 06:10 AM

anyone knows what sirio engine type
shares the same plug inserts ??????????????????

jpalessi 09-23-2008 07:53 AM

;)

KThatcher 09-23-2008 09:50 AM

I got 2 of the fully modded .21's and WOW what a screamer.. given i only ran 5 tanks but this motor is really quick... i own a OS Speed, a standard v-spec and a picco evo 2 and this motor has more raw power than any of those motors.. the speed is a little smoother IMO but so far im more than happy with this motor...

I did have 1 problem with 1 of the motors, it had a bad carb. the slide was stuck it wont open at all.. i got a spare sirio carb to run for now.. if i send it back will trinity replace it? or fix it??

speedy2 09-23-2008 11:15 AM

yes head button..
I don't know what happened but my engine
keeps spitting the P3 plugs
they just are disappearing into the air....
the threads must be busted

I got to get another one...which sirio engine part ???

Hey people,

I have read the thread and thought I would take the plunge. I currently have 2 GRP's, OS Ninja and an OS 28 for my XT8 and 808.

I just ordered the Extech fully modded, no 5 glowplugs, 7 mm venturi and 2057 exhaust. I'm looking for an engine that has a smooth bottom end and revs to the moon as I drive on extremely loose tracks in Victoria and my club track is 60m (200 ft) X 40m (130 ft). I find the 808 loose in the rear out of the hole and I'm hoping this will be the ticket. I need 10 mins + run time as State Qualifiers are 10 mins.

Any tips with this engine - Running in, checking bearings at X litres etc. It would be greatly appreciated.

Doe the Trinity clutch system work with stock XRay clutch bells as they are 16 tooth stock and what is the flywheel diameter as the XRay is 33mm which is an odd size. If I go bigger it will protrude through the chassis and cause flameouts on hard landings or if it smaller I may not be able use it with the bump box.

Cheers.:)

Losi-Runner 10-01-2008 03:50 PM

i just moved my extech .21 into my new x2 truggy n headed out to the local track today n gettin bout 10:30 to a tank. not too shabby.

As far as the clutch setup I can't help as I run something differently. The motor requires no special attention other than about 30 minutes of run in working the throttle lightly and rich, after that you can put a race tune on it. As far as your 808 let me know what your diff oils are and I can help with setup.

Qmartin,

My diffs are 552 for the buggy and 775 for truggy. Set up advice would be great. Thanks:)

Poppin Fresh 10-03-2008 08:43 PM

From what I've gathered from people using the Extech, you're best choices for pipes are the 086, 053, 063, and 2013 pipe being the smoothest. All used with either long or short smooth flow manifolds. Hope that helps.

Thought I would post this here as this race is being Sponsored by Team Trinity. They have provided us with alot of nice Trinity products to give away at the race. Special Thanks to Chad and Toni for their awesome support. Thanks!!

We hope to alot of folks come out to race with us and see Team Trinity Extech domination!

Threw in my EB Mods .24 at a race this weekend. This motor is awesome. Idled two tanks through and the thing just purred on the box. All the power you could ever need on the top and bottom too. I was pitting with a heavily sponsored worlds driver and he couldn't stop talking about how sweet the engine was. After having issues (largely b/c of inexperience) tuning engines in the past, this motor is exactly what I needed to keep me from posting all my stuff on ebay out of frustration!

Are the pipes you use for the .24 the same as what is recommended for the .21 or are there better options?

Thanks Joe. I'm gonna be running that revo for the first time on the 25th. I'll let you know how it goes!

Chill_Will 10-13-2008 01:49 PM

Ok, I see other people are having carb issues also. This past weekend my friend has his carb lock up on him. He's happy he had another motor to run.
