I ran my .21 in the buggy for the first time today. WOW!!!! I thought it was fast in the truggy, but it is on another level in the buggy!!
I will be softening up the clutch on Saturday to try to tame it down a little. Colin |
21 questions
Just put my .21 trinity in my truggy. Located down in S. Fla, and its basically 80 - 90 degrees with about 80% humidity (closer to 95% after it rains, which lately has been every day at 3:00 PM).
Ran the engine with a ExTech Turbo Medium (TRI40112) Plug and when the car idled it just shut off. So then I switched to Turbo Hot (TrI40110) Plug and that seems to have resolved the issue....verdict is still out until I can get a damn tank through before it starts to rain again. But at first glance, the car was just plain faaaaaast without any issues...had to lean both top and bottom, again, I suspect due to our world famous humidity down here. If its clear and dry tomorrow, I am going out to our short track....anyone have any suggestions......Prior posts attribute plug failure/shut down to oil in the engine...ideas/suggestions welcomed...thx. |
skt1969 - the medium plug makes the engine a little harder to tune but increases runtime.

Chad, I am heading to Leisure Hours this Sunday for indoor race if Deiter is around. I had much better luck yesterday.
Tip #1 Never try to build and install linkage when you are part way through a half rack :D This thing is so wicked. I have some work to to try and get that power to the ground. Ed out did himself for sure. And man, I hope I NEVER have to break in another engine! That alone is worth the price of admission. This will be the mill that the rest get compared too:cool: |
I have a tracking number for the .24's there almost here.. if you do not have one on back order, you may want to do it now before there all gone! :sneaky::D
|
slay - what is ur name.. pm me so i can tell him..
|
OK! This is a shake down! Everybody empty your pockets & put the Extech's on the table, I'll be takin them with me for further inspection!!! :sneaky:
ha... And who said nothings free! :D lmao |
Chad YGPM. Do you have a part # for the Venturi's?
|
#5 vs #6
Chad, the number 5 seems to run easier. I put it in and had the "shut off problem" solved so it seemed. I finally made it out to the track and got in a tank before the rains hit....come back home to clean up (little muddy out there) and then the "shut off" started again...i switched to #6 plug and back to #5 and opened the idle to see if this helped...and it looks like it did so I called it a night.
I think the idle is still set too high though and I have to hit the breaks to get the carb fully closed...its like its not retracting to the fully closed position....I am going to re-seat the throttle servo and start again tomorrow..... any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated... |

joe a.....not 2 get off topic but when can i order my shirts/hats?
|
thx Joe...will try that tom...FYI...and for others reading...the engine is just sick. its fast, smooth all the way through... and something I noticed right away, but I don't think anyone has mentioned, the engine seems to level itself out while in flight...without any effort on my part!!!! I mean jump after jump, it did not matter what, while in "flight" this bad boy just settles down for an easier landing....crazy..go figure!!!

Guys, the fully modded Trinity X-Tech .21 is now available to the public! Get em now. They will go fast I am sure. I run one and it is from another planet. I think Ed reverse engineered alien technology from area 51 for this one!

i caught a glimpse of the motor running last night it looked good but i was trying to do some running of my own
|
chad, i was racing at revelation tonight and i believe one of the trinity guys called you about my engine. It appears its leaking fuel out of the carb boot. I cleaned it up before the last heat and again before the race and both times there was buildup of muck where it appears to be leaking. If you can pm me your number, or address. I leave Tuesday morning for a week, so i can just send the engine in for an inspection if that's ok with you guys.
On another note, thanks to the guys at revelation for helping me out and pitting for me, made my first race experience nice and fun! i was trying to look for you before i had to leave, my friend was in a hurry and i didn't get a chance to thank you guys. :tire: here's an update, this should give you a better idea of what the issue is, i took the engine out, looks like its definitely leaking from the carb boot. i also snapped a pic of the front bearing, it appears the fuel was dripping from the carb down to the bearing as well. http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...1/768a9599.jpg http://i19.photobucket.com/albums/b1...1/7db99ae6.jpg |
God Damn!!
what type of run times are you guys getting with these motors!!! I have to say i am massively tempted by these but i cant find them in the uk:( and custom charges on this will be a tad eye wattering :cry::cry: |

I just wanted to say tat I donot run 1 ofthese mills and havent seen 1 run till yesterday. And at my local track there are quite a few Electric converins there that they let run with us nitro guys "which I dont dissagree wth BUTI think they should have 1 or 2 rules" and the only mil "Nitro" that is that I've seen with "off the line power" even close to the electric guys was this kid running 1 of these mills. I just got a new mill myself and I am now the only "Nitro" truggy that runs a .21 and most guys run those OS .28 mills and I was pulling them down the straight!!!.... I cant wait for the Buggy I back-ordered to come out so I can run buggy. My new mill will be going in to that.

Run time...
I was practicing the other day at my home track, Wolcott Hobby in CT. I timed one of my runs. At this time, I was running the Sirio 2057 exhaust. Now, there was a couple times when I flipped 'er on her lid and had to get off the stand to flip over...but all in all, I was on the track, one tank, for a close to 13 minutes! Yesterday, we had a club race with 10 min quals. I was going to try and see if I could run with no pit. Unfortunately, I had a really bad day. Other things went wrong and I wasn't able to test mileage out during actual race conditions like I had wanted to.

:D I love mine. Ran it Sunday. EASLIY the fastest buggy there by a long shot. I was pulling brushless buggies on the straight. People said it snapped like an electric conversion. Never touched the needled once all day. Each qualy the temps were dropping 5 degrees. It locked in at 230 and stayed there. I cant say enough how good these mills are. It is like having an unfair advantage. First time I have pulled wheelies in a buggy! You simply will not believe the acceleration. AND IMO the power it puts down is useable as Ed seems to have smoothed it out very well.

LOL I have seen a OS .21VG doing wheelies...not dissing the Extech but that is not uncommon. My Ninja and Nova will do it anytime if I stab it hard enough.

Oooh can I see! can I see!!
|
i personally dont like them there is nothing special about them my friend got the eb mods version and my jammin .28 will smoke the shit out of that motor
|
I'm not sure what you saw run but I can tell you that a properly tuned Extech will hand a Jammin .28 it's arse! My EB Mods Extech will smoke anything at the track. I know I have the fastest mill out there. Unfortunately I am not the fastest driver. It accelerates like a brushless. Besides what is the sense in comparing a .28 to a .21? Sorry but I know the truth. Everybody is entitled to their opinion. But please don't make false statements just to start something.
|
well my brother can beat up your brother
id try running that jammin engine maybe againest the ExTech .24 ???? i bet that jammin would be turned into a paper weight lol |
Give me that Jammin for a few hours then we'll talk !!
