Yes the .21 has plenty of power for the truggys and that .24 is going to be a monster more power than you would ever need and a whole lot of fun ..either motor is fine for the truggys if you run on a smaller tight track i would say .21 but if you race or play on a big track like 200 ft plus then the .24 is the way i would go, both are great motors you cant go wrong with either...

NitroOB4You 07-14-2008 04:39 PM

I was @ CRC in Rome,NY for Rd 1 RCPro. Ed had let Greg Vogel run the .24 in his trug. That thing was just plain NASTY! Based on that, I'd say the .21 Race Prep would be great in a trug. I know a few runnin them now and doing very well.

I ran yesterday @ The Barn/Chester,NY in the North East Super Series, Rd1.
My engine doesn't even have a full Gal though it yet, metal pinch still exists.
Two 5 min quals, engine temping around 220 (temp'd by Ed), finishing up with
1/2 tank after both runs. Qual one, it felt pig rich but still made decent power.
The only time all w/end I touched the needles was to lean the top 1 hr before Qual 2. I pit at about 4:45 in my 10 min main. Still had a 1/2 tank at the end of the run. I am running the Race Prep with Byron's Gen 2 30, O.S P4, Werks 2013 in a TQ SX8 bug. I am very, very impressed.
PS- Anyone wanna buy a NR 215K to help me get another ExTech? :P:P:P

Joe - oh good lord.. he went with the pipe that makes 2hp.. that was even to much for me lol :D :sneaky:

slaytanic 07-15-2008 05:58 AM

Its what I was using before LOL! I might as well try it before I get a new pipe. I would really like to try the 1005 pipe. I'm using Maxlife shoes and 1.0 springs until my Trininty clutch setup comes in. Chad do you know if they have the adjustable clutch in a 15t for the xray in stock?

Maximo 07-15-2008 10:16 AM

My Ex Tech is SERIOUS! I was able to TQ and win the Truggy class by 2 laps at round 1 of the N.E.S.S. (North East Super Series) this weekend. My Ex Tech was ballistically fast performed flawlessly! Cant wait to try the fully modded version.

Aye chad, I need a short sleeve T-Shirt!

The Joker 07-15-2008 10:59 AM

Joe was wheelin his Buggy this past weekend at Barnstormers RC & I bet if he put some wings on it it would have taken off the ground with the tune that Ed Bridges layed on it!

Well, I ripped the Jammin out & sold it & now I got a back-up engine in my Buggy so I guess it's my time now, huh?! lol

I'll tell ya if I had the spare cash I would have pick up a .21 without a doubt after seeing how fast Herman's Buggy was after he ripped that GRP out & replaced it with the Extech.

I'd put the Extech in my Truggy though, them damn things make amazing power!!! OMG

where can i get the .24 ver? i wanna try these engines have been planning on trying them in both my buggy and truggies

slaytanic 07-15-2008 08:18 PM

Finally put 2 tanks through the full mod today. HOOOOLLLEEE SHHHHEEEET! I have NEVER seen an engine that spooled up so fast. I dropped down to a 15 on the 808 since I was doing up a new clutch. The 16 is going right back in. The power band is so smooth. It has to be though or it would be impossible to control. It seemed like it was set a bit lean from though. Temps jumped right up to 250. Had to fatten it up a little. But now it is dumping out tons of smoke. I just didnt want to get it to hot right away. After a hi speed pass to clearf it out it would drop down right away for a sec then idle up and stay there. Top end was scary though. It threw the tires right of the bead on my break in wheels. I wish Ed was here to help me dial it in. Of all the .21's I've seen I really dont think there is anything that could touch this mill right now. And I can see that runtimes will be very good.

Chicago. Is it normal for temps to shoot up that way right out of the box on these? Like I said I only got 2 tanks through it and didn't have alot of time to play with the needles.

Oooh gezzzzz The .24.... you must really have a death wish! :sneaky: lol jk!

clarksib 07-16-2008 09:55 AM

When will the .24 be widely available? Also, does anyone know of a target price?

Chad Phillips 07-16-2008 09:57 AM

lets put it like this..

the .21 fully modded with 086 is 2HP

the stock .24 make 1.81 which is more than the OS28 and RB28 on Ed's dyno. I have seen the graphs... Now what will the fully modded .24 make in HP :sneaky:

boogeyman 07-16-2008 09:59 AM

just to think about that kinds make me wont to go ahead and puke now lol

Chad Phillips 07-16-2008 09:59 AM

.24's are in the air and on the way here now.. FINALLY.. It will take about another week for Ed to wave his wond and do his magic

The Joker 07-16-2008 10:00 AM
