Good idea mate. I have two JVD's now myself. One on the MG and one on the 3R, which is my back up race motor. I did try the JVD on the 7 Port in my practice/ thrash buggy when I first got it, and it was wicked on that too. I am sold on these clutches. They work really well with the X-Ray bells, which have just a slightly wider inside diameter than some other bells. Makes for a very nice hook up

Hey guy's.

Sorry for going off toppic, but can someone post a link to this JVD clutch you's are talkin about so I can check it out.
I already like what I'm running, but always open to checking out other options.

Cheers Flanno.

OK, back on toppic again. :D

thats the original designers website but if you are in the states google Ascendancy racing clutch ..thats the US distributor and it's exactly the same except they anodize it black instead of red..they have a thread on here at rctech too..search for it..

And grizz1 I just love this clutch..I was about to buy an m2c racing 4 shoe ,which at 75 bucks is expensive, when I found out about the JVD system.I'm sold too..if the shoes last the estimated 2-3 gallons then I will be even more sold...Nice sharp engagement but without being snatchy and looking at both the shoes and the bell so far little or no slip either.Thats good for both wear in general and even better, stops the heat build up that kills clutch bearings.

First race of the season here is 21st march but I'm gonna have to miss it as I have a show to do for my business the same day but I have a "championnat de France" on the 28th and first league race on the 4th April.Wish my bloody new PT from AMB would arrive in time..

on the Ascendancy clutch, isn't or do you need the special tool to set the springs? I am using the answer rc clutch system with the over sized bearings. So far so good. Checked at 1/2 gallon. Still new.

hey guys... have any of you set up a 5R or 7R in an MBX-6T? I'm setting up a new truggy for next weekend.

matrixmike28 03-08-2010 08:48 AM

I run the Mugen 6, 6T Trey and I love them. Are you coming to Houston this weekend???

Tabushi 03-08-2010 10:34 AM

Yesterday got practice with my GX7R on Buggy and GX5R on truggy (first time ever with .21 on truggy, always been using .25 GO before).

Both engines just got about 12-15 tanks each, still very tight and giving me just 7 1/2 minutes GX7R and 8 minutes GX5R ... any tip for this weekend ? lol ! i have a very important race and my engines still tight so even when good power, they are driniking too much fuel, hate that ...

thanks

Hi Flanno. Here is another link for the JVD. It is a test report on the clutch unit and very informative.

Matt, there is a tool that you can buy to install the spring tensioner, but you don't need it. Just grip the tensioning ring with a pair of square jaw pliers or small vice grips and turn it to the seating position. It's very easy. Plus the whole clutch assembly will come off with the fly wheel for a quick strip down of the motor if required. The clutch nut can be tightened up or removed with your glow plug spanner which is handy in the field.

Trey, lots of guys here run the GX-5R in their Mugen 6T's and they rock.
Our local rules don't allow any motors above .21 in truggy, so the 5R is very popular because of it's wicked bottom end. Alloys with 1.0 or 1.1 springs seems to be the popular choice. Good luck on the weekend :)

yep I'll be there. Should be a fairly good representation from Go drivers in San Antonio and Austin. Will Tmizzle be there? I have heard nothing from him in a month or so. If you talk to him, please tell him that I need his driver profile and a Go picture ASAP, for the web site.

Anyways, what clutch setup is best for the MBX-6T w/ a GX5R? Also, PM me if you would- interested in suspension and diff setup for the porter track.

yeh it's easy enough to twist into position..But I bought the tool anyway cause it was like 15 bucks and I thought "why spoil the anodizing with pliers.."

Flanno 03-08-2010 03:24 PM

Thanks for that Grizz. Very informative link.

I'm not sure if can get that exact system here in Auss, but I'v seen the ascendancy one on Amain.
I'v always been curios to try a 4 shoe system after seeing the Losi 4 shoe and how tunable it is.

Thanks Again Flanno.

Back on toppic;
My MG66 and MM A main fuel package TQ'd in truggy for the 2nd week in a row with 13 laps at 10min07sec (just 7sec off a 14 lapper) and a standard Dev of 0.86sec this week, with no fuel stops in each 10min quallifiers, lets hope I can make it a hat trick at my next outing.
