Hey meno222 and any other RC Tech members that have
posted in this thread recently. Please add your location
under nickname. Why, because if I knew that you were
located in the lower 48, I would have gladly sent you a
long ls needle for free. I don't mind helping someone here
in the states out if I have an extra to spare. If the one you
ordered turns out to be a short one, PM me and I will trade
ya, IF you live in the states.

If the engine is fluffly and rich then just lean the LSN about 1/4 turn , chances are you wont get it to run till it gets a chance to burn the fuel properly , the other problem is with new engine you are fighting a war on 2 fronts.IF The engine is tight and its rich .. This is a shitty combo to keep running , rich settings will constrict the sleeve ie it wont expand through heat.

SO

recommendation is

Run a med to hot plug

about 20 % nitro

Hey Mike, I am running the EFRA 2072 that came with the engine as a combo and a T3 plug, fuel is Byrons 25% I also have fitted the extra shim......no fuel coming out the pipe, which surprises me!! it does have smoke.

Will have a another go today and get another plug...........the leaflet that come with the engine states HSN 1-2 turns out? thats a hell of a variable one whole turn?

Anyways will try again with both needles flush and go from there, thanks for your help and anything else you can think of is appreciated

1-2 turns out from what?...I should ignore that and go with both needles flush. Then lean the LSN just until it idles properly. This is the standard way to start with these motors.Again..and this can't be said enough..check the idle gap BEFORE anything else!

I was wondering what is the difference between the old with the silver head and the new one with the orange head the 5 port motors

losi_alaska 03-06-2010 12:00 PM

Hey guys I have 2 Go motors 2 /21's They both have the red head and they are both 3 port engines. one of them has a silver crank case and the other is black. The serial numbers are US0000470 silver case and the other is US0000566. Any idea why they changed colors??? Which of these 2 motor's would benifit best with some mod work done to it. Or should I sell these 2 and get a new one.
Thanks Jim

well apart from the crank, gudgeon pin and carb slide being TiNi coated, the new lighter con rod, carb completely revamped, and I guess port timings changed (not an expert on this) it also depends on which gen the silver head is....there were some differences between gen 3,4,and 5 engines too..

Sounds liek you have 2 R specs . The original R Spec came with the silver crank case and was then changed to the black case to be uniform with the rest of the pro range. Id say the black case is the engien to mod .. Does it have the all black composite carb ?

Ummmm somewhere in this forum there was a list of the changes to identify different gen motors..best way is to post a couple of pics here..make sure to get both the crancase and the carb clear in the pics and one of the GO specialists will tell you what you have for sure..

that looks like a gen 5 engine,with a different carb? Not a go-tec carb.

It has a Go carb just wondering how this will run since it's the older model and does anybody know what are the stock settings are for the carb

If that is a GO carb it must be a Gen 3 or older motor. Massive would know. I have not seen a carb like that on a GO in my experiance with the motors.
To be honest IMO - if it is a Gen 3 or earlier you would be better off with a new GX. The difference in technology and performance is huge.
