Hey Malik, don't be put off from running a 7 Port on a tighter track. They have big bottom end and can handle it no problems. Run 1.1 springs, alloy shoes and a 7 mm restrictor and you can pull wheelies with the 7 :p I run on a fairly short and tight track with mine occasionally and it's awesome. Just finished some TLC on my 7 Port actually. Now it has a new MMods Gen 5.5 crank, new bearings and rod. I had forgotten how angry the 7 sounds until I fired it up this avo. Hmmm - love that motor  |
The only thing is that I like to run 1.0's and carbons LOL. I put my D8 on a 5 oz diet and alittle more to come. I am just tired of maintaining alloy shoes. I hope my new 3p is up to it. Even if I did go back to alum I still wouldnt run 1.1's in buggy, I would go with the Dynamite last for evers LOL with 1.0s or Mugen light shoes. I will get 1 eventually, another reason is every guy with a GO around here is running a 7.

im running 1.1's and answer alloys on my MM5 7 port and its like a shotgun blast out of the hole.

Well at my local track there is only one guy that runs there consistently with a Go 7pt turbo and that would be me. I have also seen one 5pt that the person ran way too rich and was getting stomped by os motors only because it was too rich. It was a sad sight to see such a great motor not being used to its full ability. As for the track we finally get to practice next week and it is technical for the most part. I love my seven pt and wouldn t change it for the world. Now what I'm excited to run is that Go-28 6pt I just picked up to run in my truggy.

I have tried all sorts of spring/shoe combos on the 7 Port and have found that it needs the heavier springs. With the extra ports the motor needs to spool up a little more then the other GO's before the clutch hits, or it can be a little boggy off the mark and out of the corners, regardless of tune. You can get away with 1.0's, but the 1.1's are nice on any track surface with this motor. Either 3 x alloy shoes or 2 x alloy with a carbon to soften it a little and prolong shoe life. I use the X-Ray 1.71 shoes and they last extremely well. He he - "shotgun blast out of the hole" sums it up nicely Jasonguy :) |

3 port sport
What can you guys tell me about the 3 port sport? Looking for a .21 for my matrix buggy to get rid of the .28 gas pig. I plan on entering a couple races at my local track. The track is on the small size so top end power isn't really needed. I'm just looking for some opinions on the 3 port sport.

having seen them run around here i liked them enough to buy two from a guy in austin, (one used and one new) the used one was DOA and i am about to break in the new one, i would say go for it. go ahead and get the restrictors for it as well (they are not included with the sport one) Im thinking the 7mm one would be a good choice for it, although the pack of them has four sizes to choose from. |
The .21 sport is a really good motor for the price. It has most the same internals as the race motors with more basic ports. The one I'm running I modded and it runs right with any 5 port and most high end engines.

My GO 3PR is running well in the quallys but everytime I pit it dies while being filled up.. any ideas? Its a HB D8 if that matters. Just confused why it dies then, runs strong during qual and before i pit.

If I rremember right you need to richen hsn 1/8th turn till it stops. there was a post in here just about that problem. I am sure if mark from massive mods or grizz see this they will point you in the right direction.
