Shane a few options re: plugs

You could try some O’Donnell OS style plugs, they are cheaper and fairly tough from what I have heard. Check out RC Mart.

If you plane on running RB plugs which are NR based then try Extreme racing plugs as they are cheap at Carolinas R/C they are can be used in a NR engine without leaks, I can send you a PM from a good source about the Plug design/fit if you like?

$19 for plugs that's steep mate, $120 minimum just to walk out the door to race, 3 plugs, race fees, food and drinks, ect, expensive, but fun..

Cheers mate. Unfortunately I live in new Zealand so any plugs I bought from the States would have to be shipped down to me here in the South Pacific, some 14,000 miles away. The shipping costs negate any lower prices. :(

what kind of run time are you folks getting from the 3port race ?and what carb insert its with
thanks nic

slaytanic 12-21-2008 10:42 PM

I'm getting an easy 9 min with an 086 pipe and Trinity #5 plug. And I am only at 1/2 to 3/4 gallon with temps right at 190-200. Should get much better once the metal pinch goes.

Running a modded 5 Port (which should give very similar times to the 3R) with a 7mm restrictor. Refueling at 7.5 min with just on a quarter tank left, so realisticly looking at 10 mins total run time.

grp boys i need your opinion....

i have the .28 6 port and i thought it had a air leak or somethin but today i played with it a little more and i got it runnin good. but the only concern is where my needles are. My high speed is like 3/4 turn above flush and my lsn is like 3 1/2 turns in from flush(not exact but aprox) are these settings ok? if i touch the hsn at all it cuts out. My temps are at 210-220

these were takin with a high end temp gun not the cheap ones

Rocket42 12-22-2008 04:48 PM

You need to check your idle gap. but you shouldn't really be worried where the needles are in relation to the housing too much. My guess is that your idlegap is too small causing you to run a very lean LSN and then in order for the engine to get enough fuel you have to run the HSN very rich.

losi_racer 12-22-2008 04:52 PM

.7-1 mm right??

EDIT: i just went and looked, its small but its not bad. i had a bigger gap then it was now but i was leanin the lsn so i had to adjust the idle. I just put a 6mm just now wanting better fuel mileage(i havent ran it with the restrictor in) it started raining so i had to bring it in

TMizzle 12-22-2008 07:44 PM

First time out with D8 with GO7 port

David Wall 12-22-2008 07:52 PM

Congrats on the ride Mizz!!! See you in Atlanta again this year!! Can't wait!!

malik 12-22-2008 08:44 PM

Is your 7 port stock? And what restricter are you using? I havent ran mine yet due to the weather and my PTM 5 port I ran it in truggy last year so I know I am going to have alot of tning down to do. I am going to start with the 7mm restrictor and .9 springs and if its still too much I will go to the 6.5mm and worse comes to worse go up a tooth on the bell but I dont want to have to do that.

TMizzle 12-22-2008 08:52 PM

yes, its a stock 7 port
OS P3 plug
VP Pro clutch shoes with 1.0s
0801 Pipe
7mm go restrictor

insane fast! and smooth! :tire:

malik 12-22-2008 08:57 PM

How you like the vp shoes? I am just alittle worried about the bottum end being too much.
