Default Temp

Hey guys what is a safe engine temp for racing .21 3port race spec, on a track with a .30.00 second lap time. To day my motor came of the track at 205.temp after the 3 heats and a 20:00 minute.main, it had good smoke all the way down the front straighaway, it seems like I could lean it out on the top or bottom?. Comming out of the corners it kinda bogged with goood smoke, could some one help me ? The plug I was running was a #5 rb concepts. It's a hot plug.

First race with the MM5 7 port yesterday at the ROAR Summer Nitro Series Region 2 race #1.

No practice so I had 2 really bad qualifiers, finally got the car feeling the way I wanted and had a decent 3rd qualifier that put me in the B Main, I took 2nd out of the first turn, and took the lead about 5 minutes in and never looked back. Won the B Main to get the bump to the 9th spot in the A.

Lost bind to my rx as I was getting my car started for the A so I got on the track a lap and a half behind. Came back to finish 7th in the A Main!

Not bad for my 2nd ever 1/8 scale buggy race

Video's will be up on my YouTube channel later on today.

Here's the B-Main video, my car is the solid blue RC8 with white wing and wheels

1st 10 Minutes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eh4TJi2tPk
Last 5 minutes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1w3zt_OSMU

Just uploaded them, quality should improve a little later, takes a while for YouTube to fully process them.

One of the best RC videos I have watched. Looks like you had some fun with the rhythm section.

Who was getting told to back up midway through the first video?

I just replaced the PSC on my 3P-R with a 7 port. I'm doing the extended break-in with .5 gallon of 30% JAC fuel on a Hudy bench. Basically you run the engine at operating temps for .5 to 1 full gallon without stopping. This is supposed to allow the "grooves" in the piston to fully wear away while matching the sleeve. Afterwards, you do a normal heat cycle break-in. Theoretically you can begin tuning for power after that heat cycle since you've already worn away most of the mechanical pinch.

My neighbors aren't too happy right now Good thing I mowed their lawn yesterday!

good story for you guys.
ok well due to me being over competitive i tried to pas a guy through the woop section at my local track, well i went cartwheeling and lost my reciever pack in the crash and broke my cooling head. well i had a novarossi laying around and i worked actually, so next race my little 3port was hauling and outrunning all kinds of high end motors, so i get a crowd around my car. I heard many guys say, man i want to get a novaross now, those things rock. well i just had to worsen their emabressment, i told them it was a go tech but they all said bull S#$%. i then showed them the go engraving on the crank case. lol wow they were insanely embaressed hahaha. so go tech does it again, budget engines kicking @$$

Thanks, Awesome is a fun track to drive but it's a pretty hard one. That whoop section and the back step up step off can be brutal, and so can that big triple. Getting at LEAST 15' of air probably closer to 20'

Not sure who was told to back up, must have been one of the drivers talking to my buddy who was filming for me. I'll have to watch it again.

I had some jackass that I was trying to lap blocking me for a good couple of minutes, I'm suprised you couldn't here me yelling "GET THE FU*K OUTTA MY WAY" in the vid

Frosty ... I heard it but I would most likely be cussing the guy out, too. But this is all hypothetical since I've never lapped anyone

I probably should have been a little calmer about it, but I get pretty competitive. But it is what it is.

Hi man ! (your name ?),

Right now im on my 6 1/2 gallon of fuel through my 7 port .21 engine. Im more than happy with the performance out of him, im using 7mm insert on the carb and im having an average runtime of 8.30 to 9.45 minutes depending on the track and city, using hard clutch (1.1) and GO 0801 pipe.

On the break inn side, i usually break inn my engines this way :

- 1st Tank. Very rich, on the starter box tyres on the air, mid open throttle to wide open, trying to go fast to 80-90°C but always rich.

- Let it cool.

- 2nd Tank. Same as 1st.

- Let it cool.

- 3rd Tank. Same as 1st but i lean it a little and consume the entire tank on blips of medium to full throttle transitions.

- Let it cool.

- 4th Tank. On the track, very rich, 1/4 to 3/4 throttle, lookng for the 80-90°C mark.

- Let it cool.

- 5th Tank. Lean it out.

- Leit it Cool.

- 6th Tank. Lean it out.

- Let it Cool.

- 7th to 10th tank ... RACE MODE !!

at least its what it works for me ... i dont chance rods or anything ... plain stock.

cya !

T4 try the leaning the lsn a bit. But 1st have it up to temp, and if that dont work put the lsn back and lean the hsn. and try that. Temps are good but you can go alittle warmer.
