hey,
how many o rings on each needle of the carb? just one, correct?

malik 03-12-2009 09:48 AM

Sohot you are fine just run it. read my post though about the seal in the bearing moving though.

i have been blowing glowplugs...could this be a result of this? but then again i have been tuning the motor thinking i had the long carb but it turns out i have the intermediate. which means my hsn was too rich...will overly rich top end kill glowplugs?

Correct, just one on each needle.

Being way rich will kill plugs eventually. Just like when a plug quite often dies after break in. Don't stop your motor by blocking the exhaust off either. This definitely kills plugs real fast.
Try setting the HSN to about 1.5 turns in from flush and LSN about 2 turns in from flush to start with, and tune for a clean top end from there. Then set the LSN for a clean take off and 4 - 5 sec pinch test.

It is fairly normal for some dirt to be caked on the bearing after removing the clutch. If it is bad it will leak as you run the car. After a heat it will be damp and dirt will be caked on the chassis under the clutch.

All front bearings leak , some more than others . How to tell if the bearing is stuffed or not is put the edge of your thumb nail gently on the seal of the bearing. if you can push it round then you need a new one. if it dosent then its fine.

Hey Ben,

did you find out what was locking the crank up, when you showed it to me the crank was locking on something but without removing it I couldn't see what.:weird:

what a demon of a track that was on the weekend talk about having to concentrate to find a way through the mine feild:lol:

Still a good result for Go engines with Jerry 2nd and myself 6th after a rough start:D

Adrian:tire:

I'm sure Paul will get your 7pt up and running just like new again

Doubts

Hello guys, I'm not sure if these question has alredy been made here, but here we go:

1- What is the recomended gluw plug and venture to be used during the break in process of a 5 ports GO Tech ?

2- What is venture diameter you are using on the 5 ports GO when the engine will be used on a Buggy ? I used to have a black OS, and for that engine I was using a 7mm venture. But I'm preaty new in a Go world.

Hope eveybody could help me.

Thanks

Cestari

Hi Cestari, Just leave the stock black plastic 8mm venturi in for break in.
Several plugs work well in the GO motors. OS P3 or P4 seem to be a common choice.
Check out the break in method on the bottom of page 78 of this forum from Mugenb46. This is a good way to break your GO motor in. A lot of people change the con rod after the first 2 gallons too, just as a precaution, because these motors are so tight when new.

Depending on track conditions etc, probably the 7 mm restrictor for racing. If you still find the bottom end a little too much for your buggy, go down to the 6.5 mm restrictor.

is this very 1st generation 5port engine im using?coz i dont know what are the differences between the 1st gen and the other gen thats been released by GO,but i think the carb is the revise one unlike the old one which is hard to adjust the idle stop screw coz its under the carb throat,im just curious about the different gen's of the 5 port

and what are the factory needle settings of this engine?

thanks!

Can't really tell much from the photo. A lot of the changes between generations are internal. As far as I know the carb was changed quite a bit between Gen 1 to Gen 4, but the actual motor was not changed too much (somebody please correct me if I'm off track here).
The most recent change from Gen 4 to Gen 5 saw quite a few changes throughout the motor, including a new tapered cooling head, new carb, shorter LSN needle, modified "O" ringed pinch bolt, new crankshaft, and a turbo head button as standard.
