20 min mains and had fueled only 2x and still have 1/3 a tank after 7mins
I love this engine it is just so difficult to be consistent with it when the climate changes in the same raceday
thanks
Doc, I suggest you use aluminum shoes with 1.1 springs, I believe you told me you are using some carbon shoes with unknown springs.

My new GO 3-port ate a Losi starter box yesterday. It was the first time we tried to fire it, even after pre-heating it. It was the only starter box we had so unfortunately there isn't much more to do. Are these GO engines usually so tight? Even after loosening the plug it still didn't want to turn to freely.

yep they are notorious for being tight. what I usually do before trying to turn it over for the first time is to remove the plug and put a fair amount of afterrun oil in to the engine through the carb and in the combustion chamber.

allow the oil to sit in the engine for about 1/2 hour at least before replacing the plug. leave the plug loose, heat up the engine with foil around the cooling head(at least 200F),make sure the engine is at BDC, prime it by blowing through the pressure feed line until there is fuel into the carb and you should be good to go.

YUP
I'm using the stock D8 clutch and set up
I just have to find the right setting for a smoother initial 1/4 of the throttle

Thanks! I should have ran it on the box without the plug for a while, I'll try that next time I get some box time. Lesson learned for sure.

We're racing year round in Austin too, we've had a couple of colder races in the 40-50's but still not a problem at all.

From what I've heard the Losi box isn't the most powerful box out there. The Ofna Truggy box will turn over anything. The 3 port isn't as tight as the 5 and 7, people claim the Go's are so tight but I've never thought they were much tighter than a Nova or Rb.
When trying to start a motor blow into the pressure line and get the fuel right up to the carb. Then barely push down on the car to get the starter box spinning up to speed before you push down on the car.

You are probably just a hair out on the bottom end. The GO's are very touchy on the needles. Just a tiny adjustment will make a big difference. Just tweak the bottom until you get a steady idle with no drop in revs after you come in from a run. Check with pinch test. Engine should rev up only slightly and die around 4 - 5 seconds after pinching off the fuel line (about 1" from the carb).

I have the ofna truggy box and with those 2 775 motors in there it will bump start a chevy big block. But I always heat my engines before starting them even in the summer.

I only turn left
