So meaning soft do the vp shoes wear out really fast? I know in buggy the mugens last a long time with 1.0 springs. they just cost a ton! .9 springs will tame the beast huh? I will have to try that combo.

You can get the VP-pro parts from Rocket himself.

Have been running VP Pro clutch shoes and springs for over a year and they are great. The shoes are not the hardest on the market, but they wear very well. Like Rocket42 said, they are lightweight and grab nicely. I don't know about USA prices, but here they are the best value alloy shoe (and spring set) on the market. Their tyres are great as well.
Rocket42 - I will try the 0.9 springs next meeting. I always thought that they would make the clutch too early and bog out of the corners, but I guess the 5 Port has the bottom end to make up for this.

Set like this the motor will perform flawlessly, but if you prefer a more "normal" tune on your motor, then grind down the LSN as Rex suggests. It works very well, and allows you to tune with the HSN as per any other motor. You will end up with HSN at about 2.5 - 3 turns in from flush and the LSN about the same as before, maybe a little leaner - around 2.5 - 3.5 turns in from flush (depending on pipe, fuel etc). Let us know how you get on
Hi, could you tell me how much exactly would I have to cutoff of the LSN ?
Do I just cut it with a Dremel cutoff wheel and then use a sanding disk or drum to round it ?
Also does anyone know if any other manufacturer LSN will fit on my GO 5PT carb ?
I used the method described obove to tune it and so far so good I haven't really tested it on the track yet, but I still felt more comfortable when I used my old sirio carb & reguler short LSN for tuning.
My setting is this so far :
HSN= .250 (1/4) turn in from flush
LSN= 1.75 (1 3/4) turn in from flush
at 2.5 in from flush on the LSN it would bog for an instance when I hit the throttle, at 1.75 feels good.

You just have to shorten it down to 2.425 or within .025 or so. I personally just hit it on a belt sander then round the end. (bullnose) A Rb/ novarossi lsn needle will fit, the carb is an exact copy of the Nova carb.

hey guys,

im getting a smoking deal on a Ofna Lx buggy with a gotech .21

my question to you guys is,
is there a turbo button for the sport 3port motor?

this guy is claiming that the motor in the buggy is a turbo plug but after searching the only motor i can find that it matches is the sport motor(blue head) and i didnt see a turbo button for it anywhere..this guy got the motor in a trade and doesnt know much about it so maybe just a simple mistake,

thanks

There is a turbo button available for the 3 sport. Contact Rex (22Racer). He runs one of these modded in his buggy, and I believe he stocks the turbo buttons also. Might be a 3 Port Race motor - if so grab it quick !!!!

here is a pic of the car with the motor. look identical to the 3p sport motor, i was just curios if they had made a turbo button that maybe the p.o. swapped in, the guy im buying it from bought out a guys whole lot of stuff and this buggy was in it.

since im new to nitro do the turbo plugs look different then standard, that why i can just pull it and look for myself when the car gets here

Looking at that picture it seems that the guy you're buying it from took the head apart because of how the head is positioned, the "Go" should be facing the rear shock tower, so my guess is that he installed the turbo button, considering he's telling you it's turbo, here's a link to the button:

http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/10573

in the description says for the 5 Port but it's for all race and sport .21 Go engines.

Hi, sorry to keep bothering you
you say shorten it down to 2.425 is that total size of the needle or what ?
I don't quite understand( I used to race electric only).
Also I assume that is milimeters ?
I will also be looking for a LSN from RB/nova thanks for the advice !

Rex has somehow added an extra inch to his LSN measurements .
The original needle has a total length of 1.6 inches. Grind this down to a total length of 1.42 inches and round off the end just like Rex described. If you prefer mm then make the total length of the needle 36 mm.
This will allow you to tune the motor like any other, using the HSN, then fine tuning the LSN.
The GO motors are fitted with the long LSN's to provide a nice smooth power band. The LSN stays in the spray bar right up to full throttle, which is why they require a richer HSN than normal to let enough fuel through. If you tune them as described on page 131 / 132 of this thread you will have no problems - they run awesome. It's just a slightly different tuning concept thats all. The short needle works fine also. It comes out of the spray bar somewhere between 3/4 and full throttle, so you can run a leaner HSN like other motors. Whatever needle type you decide, your motor will perform nicely

Standard plugs have a normal square thread with a copper washer. Turbo plugs have a tapered thread and do not require a washer.

The turbo head button combustion chamber has a more rounded (hemispherical), shape and the turbo plug sits flush in this chamber giving a very smooth rounded area for combustion to take place, allowing better, faster flame propgation during ignition. This is why turbo buttons and plugs make a little more power and idle better.
With the standard head button the base of the plug slightly protrudes into the combustion chamber, hence not giving the same performance enhancing characteristics as the turbo combination.
If you want the best performance out of your nitro motor you really need to run a turbo head if it is available.

Sorry, the second time I added an inch sorry for the confusion, it should be very close to a Rb/Novarossi if you borrow one to copy.
